https://i.imgur.com/IXj7xIx.jpg In case anyone needed a reference image of the available space. I don't recall that paper being up on the windows so perhaps they're moving into that space? Sorry I was not able to get a better picture. I cut out the space near the lobby entrance. The dog wasn't keen ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
3 blocks is too far? Three blocks was just a number that I pulled out of nowhere because it obviously depends where you are. I started listing the avenues (north/southish) in this area that are incomplete and the list became exhaustive as they are almost ALL incomplete. On a brisk and/or drizzly da...

I guess the article didn't mention it. They plan on re striping to Plymouth. Wash Ave will go down to one lane each side, bike lane, center turn lane.
They presented the plan at North Loop comm assoc meeting.

Re: 602 Condominiums - (602 1st St N)
I'm a pretty big proponent of integration in all its forms, so I'd be in favor of the North Loop having affordable housing options, personally. I think it would be good medicine.
Plus, I could use some help getting into the neighborhood....

Re: LPM Apartments - (376' - 36 Stories)
I don't think diversity has anything to do with it. I think it's their pricing....they think this is Chicago, and that's not to suggest that Minneapolis is below Chicago (per se), but rather that people in Chicago EXPECT to throw big money into downtown housing, because that is absolutely the best ...

Re: The George Henry Hotel - 300 Washington Ave N (formerly
I don't have any particular objection to it like one of the letter does. But it isn't very well defined in the renderings, so it's a bit tough to figure out what it might add, aside from another level. It looks like a blob in the renderings. Made of jello salad...

Wow. That is fantastic. When that brick is fixed and cleaned, it's going to look awesome.

Re: Metro Transit Service Improvement Plan 2014
I like improving the 7 and the 14. In an ideal world I'd like to see them run on the same street through the North Loop, each at 15 minute headways, so you effectively get 7.5 minute headways from North Loop into downtown. Considering how much of an "Urban Neighborhood" NL is, it's a tran...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
If people are opposed to a park there, you can still build the trolley through that block and utilize the entire block. Build up and around the proposed trolleys tracks. Been done before. Boom, done, pretty cool, too.

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
Does a single illegally parked car on the track effectively shut down the street car? At least until tow truck arrives?

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
I'm not sure. Nick just said we should do it, he didn't leave us any clues how to do so. :) I'm sure there plenty of well informed people here who might be able to tell us how it might work. Sure, it would be a lot of work, but all good transit projects take time. And there is nothing easy about tra...

Anyway, I'd rather see a N-S subway built here before some high speed downtown to downtown is constructed.

Re: Downtown-to-Downtown Rail Capacity Study
FWIW, I took a morning blue line train from O'hare to the loop, and carrying luggage on a packed peak hour train is an enormous PITA. I would have loved a Metra trip even if it had cost $5 per person or whatever, and had even taken longer. Boarding at Ohare cost you $5 anyway. Same price, zero comf...

Re: Downtown-to-Downtown Rail Capacity Study
Yup. The stations itself cost some $250 million.
I can only imagine the fortune it would cost to make this a reality. All for shaving 10-15 minutes off the normal transit trip. hm.

Interestingly enough, a similar idea appeared in the Chicago news. http://www.redeyechicago.com/news/cta/c ... 9002.story
Looks to be related to this concept that would tie in(if it happened):http://www.midwesthsr.org/crossrail-chicago

Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
I think it's great. It's going to be very cool driving down Washington Ave from N 10th ave through downtown east in a few years as more buildings go up. Might just be the hyper urbanite in me, but there is nothing like a canyon of buildings on wide avenues.

Public Transit Speeds
Hi all, So I wasn't sure where to post this. I just read this article which raised some good points about transit planning in the metro area. http://www.minnpost.com/politics-policy/2014/10/minneapolis-pledges-pursue-streetcars-and-brt-way-better-serve-poor-and-mino One of the things that struck me ...
