Re: Saint Paul - General Topics

We’ve got to be getting pretty close to the most heavily-stadiumed metro area in the country at this point? At least per capita.

Re: Future of the forum

Hey gang, paid another $108 for hosting last month if anyone wants to slip me some cash on Venmo at @Nick-Magrino. Also, does anyone want to take this over? I've had grossly underused hosting for ages and would be happy to stick this on my server. I've got a few questions, but go ahead and PM or em...

Annually, I think. Last four digits are 4938. Also, check out @Nick-Magrino-1, he seems very cool.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

I’ve always kinda thought that splitting cultural amenities between the two downtowns is an underrated con of having the two downtowns. If you could have plopped the Science Museum and the Historical Society next to the Mill City Museum, not split basketball/hockey and similar sized concerts between...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

My guess is that the very smart people who’ve repeatedly fucked up this project over the past fifteen years are going to hear creative ideas like running the trains between Eden Prairie and Beltline or West Lake and roll their eyes so hard their retinas detach. “Internet commenters just don’t unders...

There’s some new 3D Minneapolis stuff on Google Maps—looks like they caught the Gateway tower just about topped out on their last run through.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

It’s certainly the best project we’ve gotten for nine figures in a while, and will be the best we get for nine figures for a while. I'll vouch for the Gold Line being better. Since Lake Elmo forced Washington County to route it into Woodbury, it makes a lot more sense than it used to. It feels a lo...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

I was definitely going out for coffee and getting lunch in the skyway a lot the first couple months I was back in the office, for the novelty of it, but realized I was spending a lot of money and am mostly back to making coffee at home and packing a lunch now.

Re: The Larking - 800 Park - 17 stories - 172'

I think that a lot about when I think about the pros and cons of my neighborhood and having bought a condo and the sunk costs there. I feel like there are for sure people who bought $600,000 condos in Grant Park in 2006 thinking the area was going to look like Chicago any day now, and 15 years later...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis - News & General Topics

in re: the comments about the public sector above, anecdotally, I wouldn’t be surprised if the average City employee lived farther away from downtown than the average Target, US Bank, etc employee. Lot of far north metro employees with 45 minute (or longer) commutes.
