Re: Doran Dinkytown Development
I'm going to be honest, I am more hesitant about this one. If Doran proposed a project that was 4 stories and was able to preserve the Mesa building, I would be more on board. It would also be able to stay within the current zoning, since that was what the big fight about the Opus project was. The 6...

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
Sorry, I should have clarified:
- I want to see the Pizzayogasubway get developed first before anything else happens
- If Doran is really buying the lot that the creator of SD thinks, he will have a hard time developing it

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
If money/owner stinginess wasn't a factor, I would definitely want to see the Pizza Hut/Yoga/Parking lot and McDonalds auxiliary parking lot be developed. If Doran is really buying that land, he would develop the lot behind it, but I would imagine that it would directly affect Al's in the form of bl...

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
I thought we could be done with this for a while, but that proposal does bring up a good point: When is the point where it becomes too much? Does building on the 4th street stretch go too far at that point? The main reasons that I supported this project is that it basically adds more Dinkytown to Di...

Re: U of M Bike Trail
Some Public Works/TLC/Bike Walk Twin Cities people said that the next MPLS budget includes a connection at the corner of 15th and 4th across from CVS. They said the slope would be too steep for a trail, so it will be a staircase with a metal tire ramp like the one on the MN 5 bridge by Ft Snelling. ...

Re: U of M Bike Trail
Went to the opening ceremony this afternoon. Lots of key players were at the ceremony, including Rybak, Gordon, Hodges, Pam Wheelock from the U, and Steve Kotke from Public Works. There was also a pit stop at the Surly site, with the owner of Surly and the architect in attendance talking about futur...

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
Currently writing a streets.mn post summarizing the fiery discussion and talking about next steps for Dinkytown. Site is down now, but I'll hopefully have it up by the end of the day.

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
I find it interesting that 3 of the 4 members that were not in approval of the development were on the Zoning board.

I definitely just laughed at that dreamcoat thought. #soundingcrazy
Barb brings up the thought that other houses in the area is not safe (so true!). That sounds like another supporter.

Even though Gordon opposes (and I'm unhappy about it), at least he has reasonable ideas about his hesitation instead of Hofstede's hysteria.

Liligren mentions Hodges relation to the Linden Hills moratorium. I am curious about what she says about the project.

Reich brings up the fact that building near Dinkytown keeps the Como neighborhood preserved as single-family. Interesting point.

Re: Opus Dinkytown Project - (14th Avenue SE & 5th Street SE
Hofstede claims it is consistent with the Marcy-Holmes neighborhood plan.
As a review, the neighborhood supports this project, albeit by a narrow margin.
