Re: Xcel Energy HQ - (401 Nicollet Mall)

The base of a tower crane was placed today. That will make, what, 14 cranes in downtown Minneapolis?

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development

It's rumored that there are other companies ready to (and actively trying to) partner with opus on the ritz block to build something great, but opus has no interest in partnering up.

Looks like the skyway level is going to have some really tall ceilings, and perhaps a 3-story lobby?

Re: Nic on Fifth - (290' - 26 Stories)

There are plenty of windows on the south side, but the platform supports of the LRT and the setback make light getting into the space difficult. On top of that they have made the retail space walls sheet rock so there will be no light going out into the skyway. If those are temporary walls I don't ...

vikes upped offer to 8.1 million for development rights today.
With what stipulations? Total control of the park every time any event is hosted in the stadium?

I haven't been down there to take a look. Are you saying that there are no/few windows in the skyway on the south side of the building? This rendering makes it look like there would be a lot of windows: http://i.oodleimg.com/item/3591426368u_1x424x360f_apartments_for_rent_in_minneapolis_mn/?14108636...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium

I'm pretty sure a skyway was always part of the plan. Of the specific concept above, I like it. Complements the angular qualities of the stadium.

Re: Major League Soccer in Minnesota

The 2020 partners proposal suggests that an MLS stadium would fit without displacing Mary's place and the farmers market, though a few businesses would have to be bought-out/moved. http://www.mls4mn.com/minneapolis-farmers-market-soccer-stadium/?utm_content=buffer6563b&utm_source=buffer&utm_...

Everything I've read states that if the soccer specific stadium were built, the farmers market would stay. Nobody is talking about moving it.

From some of the photos, it does appear that bedrock is not far below the surface, though to your point, it doesn't appear that they have excavated the entire foundation.

There's a decent sized mobile crane on site now. I'm not sure they could fit much more equipment on this site.

Why must we ridicule ANYONE's opinion? How about we just stick to reasoned debate and dial back the snark/sarcasm meters a bit.
