I agree, as this is the first time I even noticed this thread, and therefore was unable to attend the last one.We should do one of these again sometime soon.

Re: Transit News and Happenings
No idea, but I know that the backup spread up EB 94, off of the entrance ramps, and back up Olson Mem. into Golden Valley. Ridiculous morning. Can't wait for the rail network to develop more.

I see that they have started work on the bar/restraunt that will replace the Independent on the corner of the second floor of Calhoun Square. There is a coming soon sign for Origami on the Ground floor of the Mosaic too. Th Calhoun Square tenant is going to be Republic's second location. I'm real e...

Haha, I think my second or third thought on seeing the MN legislature result was, "Bring on the trains!"Nice! In all of my excitement, I hadn't even thought of this excellent wrinkle.

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I hate to contribute to off topic banter, but Minneapolis has added more population in the last year than it lost throughout the last ten. On top of that, there was a great article in the Strib the other day about the many problems exurbs are starting to face now that they're becoming less desirable...

Apartment Construction Boom (2011-??)
A general thread to discuss the current and ongoing boom in multi-unit construction around the Twin Cities. A fantastic article from F&C with some very encouraging statistics. It looks like the building will keep on coming! http://finance-commerce.com/2012/11/report-apartment-vacancy-rate-ticks-...

On that note, I drove by tonight and they've got between a quarter and a third of the piles in the ground already. It looks like this thing is going to be moving pretty fast.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
Good find. To me, the most interesting part would definitely be the possibility of United getting to develop the parcel that's shown as a hotel in the renderings ASAP. I feel like the market for even speculative hotels is really getting soft. Between all of the upgrades being made to existing hotel...

Re: Superior Plating site
For perspective, I think that the Magellan tower has a budget of roughly $100M, and they're talking $120M here. SO this may very well be a massive project.Holy smokes, 600 units!! How big is this thing going to be? You could have two 30 story towers for that number of units.

Re: Favorite Skyscrapers ( old, new , proposed, cancelled)
As for myself, I know it's boring and cliche because we all live here, but the Norwest Center has to be my favorite building. It looks great both at day and night, and the strong vertical lines make it look much taller and sleeker than it is (a feature shared by the IDS.) I could look at that thing...

John, that first building you posted is absolutely stunning. It's a crime that it didn't get built. As for myself, I know it's boring and cliche because we all live here, but the Norwest Center has to be my favorite building. Speed Building
Okay, I really needed to get some other people's thoughts on this. A few months back, I read about a Chinese company that built a 30 story tower in a few days. Earlier today, I stumbled across this: http://www.wired.co.uk/news/archive/2012-06/15/chinese-skyscraper-built-in-90-days The world could ha...

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
Haha. This is a less-than-typical situation for me (and I'm sure others here as well) where I'm not so much excited about the building itself as i am about the things that are coming with it: the Whole Foods, new downtown residents, and one less dilapidated parking lot to look at. Is it a work of ar...
