Re: Loring Vue Apartments - (415 Oak Grove Street)

I love this building. Very sharp and clean. In person it looks even better--has a very high end feel to it (which, of course, it should). I know it's always hard to predict, but I think it will age very well.

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

Couldn't they incorporate signal priority into a streetcar line? Has this been done in other peer cities?

Re: Nicollet-Central Corridor

I thought it was a forgone conclusion that this will be a streetcar. Rybak is for a streetcar--are there council members opposed to rail? Wonder if this will be an issue in the mayoral race (assuming any decision gets kicked down the road).

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

Nice to see the residents pushing for this. A great park and elementary school is exactly what this neighborhood needs--that and more 3+ bedroom units. If Minneapolis wants to retain a healthy and diverse downtown population, it needs more than single people and childless couples.

Re: Hot Twin Cities apartment market shows signs of cooling

The number of projects per year will most likely dip, but I don't foresee multi-family construction coming to a standstill anytime soon. Job and population forecasts for Minneapolis are positive. As long as employers add jobs and people are remain interested in living an urban lifestyle, we should c...

Re: Washburn Fair Oaks Park

I live by Fair Oaks as well. I love this idea--especially the water elements. No matter what choices are made, this park deserves an overhaul. It gets a lot of use and is a lovely little place--great presence being next to the MIA and you have views of downtown.

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

So I guess Azia on 26th and Nicollet won't be reopening... Not true from what I can tell. I live nearby and frequent that intersection almost daily. Signage is up, construction is done, furniture is in, etc. On Sun evening I saw workers hauling accessories/lighting into the restaurant. Seems like i...

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)

We don't have any actual information that the project is cancelled. But, we do know that Magellan is proposing yet another tower. Yet, somehow, that should be used as evidence that its Minneapolis project is dead rather than that Magellan is on sure footing?

Re: Neiman Marcus Closing DT Location

Downtown Minneapolis lost the battle for retail. The fact is that consumers prefer places like MOA. While I think that is sad, it is the reality. In any event, I don't think Minneapolis should try to compete with MOA or other large suburban malls. We have seen those failures manifest many times alre...

I was in downtown St. Paul today and realized that the parking garage at Wabasha and 7th has colorful mesh panels, like another user recommended for Mozaic. It really is a great solution.

In all fairness, the Church says that they will be "expanding their ministry" in addition to building new parking. Hopefully that means building Church facilities, i.e., office space, classrooms, meeting rooms, etc., on top of a parking structure and/or underground parking. At least they a...

Fire trap! yes, and the hallway looks rather small :? would be very hard to move in and out... unless you had movers do it for you... It is the perspective that makes them look small. There are building codes for hallway width, so they will be no different than almost every other newer apartment bu...

wow! This is going up fast. I'm going to have to walk by tomorrow to check it out, because it is starting to look much larger than I originally envisioned (as is the case for most of these projects). Thanks for the photo! What a great vantage point.
