Re: Former West Publishing / County Jail development site

So the land bridge has big gaping holes in it where you can peer down onto Shepard road? That is not what I was expecting. https://i.imgur.com/wPux5Nl.png However, if it becomes easy to ride your bike down to the river without having to cross live traffic on Shepard I think it will be heavily used ...

Re: Calhoun Towers - 3430 List Place (2x 281' - 24 stories)

I don't mind the twin tower drop. To many matching towers end up looking rather out of place outside of places where they are wrapped by other towers. What I DO mind is that they decreased the sidewalk crossings from 3 to 2 along West 31st. 3 crosswalks line up well with the station, while 2 are mak...

Imagine if this food hall is so successful that it became a chain name for other food hall locations! I think it be the first time a “failed” brand is brought back in a new capacity or at least in the retail market.

Midway Walmart is closing... imagine that and before midtown’s Kmart  Not sure what this means for development besides Hyvee don’t seem like much likelyhood it could be anything but a development kinda exciting and disappointing at the same time. If SuperValu was still a thing I bet they be s...

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp

Neel Kashkari was on WCCO radio this morning and was asked about the ramp. He reiterated that they have a parking problem (lol) and said something to the effect of "we're not done yet." Very ominous. So ridiculous, there is literally a parking ramp another government group wants to tear d...

I thought they JUST built that Holiday gas station. We need to keep our downtown gas stations (Holiday North Loop, Speedy Loring Park, and Mobile behind the US Bank Stadium off Washington Ave.) I think we have just enough pumps downtown, a touch to less considering Loring's Speedway has only 4 pumps...

Re: Federal Reserve Riverfront Parking Ramp

The Reserve bank is 5 blocks away from C Ramp! Walking 5 blocks isn't feasible? I understand not everyone is able to walk modest amounts, so long term some (one level) underground parking into a development on the site would be a great long term vision to strive for those with mobility requirements....

Anybody know the details about the construction at Emerson Spanish Immersion school in Loring? There website mentions it's a gym, docks, and cafeteria expansion as a part of the school renovations. However any renderings, plans, long term development plans they are working on would be much appreciat...

I think Mayor Frey has made some progress to making housing more widely available with the granny flat laws and increasing building codes for density. However we still got a long ways to go. Drug addicts and uneducated people is not who I wan't to sit by outside during my lunch meal break for obviou...

the most concerning fact is that it looks like it's a rendering and not the actual building. :?

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

Great move forward. Although I wonder if it was just a bike trail with perhaps a streetcar line connecting from Green line in midway to the proposed Riverview streetcar line. Maybe that's a little to fantasy given not much space for development in this corridor. This should be a nice way for many pe...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

I bet Northstar was considered fantasy, and look what happened. Reopening the Great Northern Depot or Milwaukee Road Depot in downtown to passenger trains is fantasy, but what we’ve been discussing is well within the realm of reality. Sadly in many ways Northstar is still fantasy. It's currently a ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

Getting Rid of the 394 ramps into downtown would be a nightmare for the ABC ramps. Unless your plan is to also demolish them as well. It sure would be progressive towards a car-less downtown, interesting idea but a bit unrealistic in today's climate. Not trying to put down your ideas, and dreams.. b...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail

I don't think we need to worry about expanding the station anytime soon.. Given Northstar only has what 8 trips a day. Hardly worth building a big station. Longer term I think building a waiting lobby and retail space above the platform would be good, could connect to the skyway so people can get to...

Is daycare a good use for a first floor? As opposed to a second or higher floor? Yes. Imagine trying to evacuate a daycare with infants and toddlers using stairs verses a door straight to the sidewalk. I would say it's not a good usage of space on first floor, second floor would be more appropriate...

That Aldi/Dollar Tree would love to see that space redevelop into say a Hyvee with underground parking and maybe even several floors of apartments! Would love to see bike lanes on 19th on the west end and on 21st on the east end with a crossover at Peavey park. That way no bikes on franklin ave as i...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

I don’t know about top priority but still very important. Me personally I’d like them to focus on building the trail on the other side! From east river parkway to midway and downtown St. Paul on a bike trail!! ( funneling to bike lanes and calling it a day!) Then building/renovating the river crossi...

Re: Cemeteries

I think there is going to be a VERY hard conversation one day as to when we can redevelop these lands and in what way... Maybe 100 years or 150 years after the most recent person was laid to rest. I'm not sure. but I don't think we would see housing in such an area. It's true they don't pay rent and...
