I hate going to the mall and having to drive again to go to Ikea! I wouldn't dare take my chances on the streets walking

Re: Nicollet Residences
I'm not sure that just because the Strib has posted expected start/completion dates that these things will all get built, but it sure doesn't hurt either. I'd like to hear something directly from the developers of LaSalle and Nicollet before I exhale.

Re: Bottineau LRT
Fine with me, just get these things funded NOW before the tables turn and the govt. doesn't support mass transit funding like Obama does (if he loses, that is)!I'm one that think there should be a street car line on broadway instead of Light rail. Just not enough room for Light rail up Broadway.

I got (I SHOULD say "received" :D ) a degree in Business with emphasis (Majors) in Finance and Real Estate, and a Minor in City and Regional Planning, in hopes of being a developer or city planner of some kind. After school, my first SEVEN years of professional experience had NOTHING direc...

Oh not this again! The 1st one was fine, the 2nd redundant.....3rd and 4th is just plain clownish! It'll look like "the projects" for office space....and maybe that's fitting.Metropolitan Mechanical Contractors, Inc. has posted this rendering on it's Facebook page:

Aren't there plans for a grocery store there? Or am I just confusing it with this colossally stupid development competition: http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/blog/real_estate/2012/04/badgers-win-development-plan-contest--.html?ana=RSS&s=article_search&utm_source=feedburner&utm_medi...

Re: Northstar
How about taxing gasoline so that it can cover the TRUE cost of road maintenance and expansion? Currently, road revenues come nowhere close to what it takes to maintain the current system, let alone any expansion plans! If gas taxes were priced to "break even", people would naturally flock...

Re: Bottineau LRT
Light Rail needs dedicated right of way. This isn't a street car. Running it along existing developed streets is a huge mess, and the fact that it's following the existing rail grade and not going through North Minneapolis isn't for lack of trying to find a viable acceptable alternative. Don't assu...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I can't recall if I posted this on minnescraper but I figured I would do it here too. I always thought it would be great if the new Viking's stadium really went all out with the Scandinavian theme. They could build something like the winter olympic stadium in Lillehammer, that was meant to invoke a...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Like I said on Minnescraper a Norse themed boat shaped stadium in the vein of Al-Shamal Stadium which is being built for the upcoming 2022 World Cup in Doha, Qatar. I also like the exterior is clean and free of visual spam. A similar design would certainly set up apart from other North American spo...

Re: 129 Plymouth Ave N
IMO, this certainly does not need its own thread. The name is generic so I'm going to keep checking it for updates, just to remember they're building what looks like a Perkins with a surface lot here. 10K RSF is also too low, IMO, to be posted. It would have been fun, albeit expensive, to build a bu...

Re: United Health Corporate HQ - Eden Prairie
^I'm excited to see what (if anything) they do with the station near West Calhoun. There's a vacant parcel next to Calhoun Towers (because that project was a disaster, financially, when it was built in the 60's) and I personally think they could completely re-do the strip mall at Market & Lake. ...

Why does it "have to" be anything? Why can't it just be a $hitty block? I'll take something positive over something negative, and it doesn't have to be mind-blowing for it to be better than what it is now.

Re: Block E (Not casino)
Now that it has been resolved that there will not be a casino in the Block E location, what should go there? Re: Block E Casino
I still think that a downtown casino is a bad idea. Especially there where there is already an issue with crime. I think pointing to Cleveland and Toledo as successful mid-west cities with a casino is ridiculous. I live in Cleveland and it MIGHT actually benefit the city here, but it's really tough...

it's a 47.5 million pot of money. i hope this project doesn't lose any momentum. meanwhile portland keeps getting Fed money for more rail while we bicker. We also sport one of THE best ridership ratios in the country, so what we build has "physical" support, unlike some places (Dallas, I ...
