Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
So I fully understand from that explanation why they cannot put in a crossing signal, as the signaling would impact train operations. But why can't they just stripe a crosswalk? No push button activation, just a regular painted crosswalk. It's not an intersection, but a pedestrian crossing of a road...

Is the developer still Alatus? IIRC from a couple years ago after this switched to rentals and lost some height, it was going to be a different developer leading the project.

Re: Root District - Farmers Market / Royalston Station
While it sucks that the City won't be able to re-arrange the streets in the way envisioned in the long-term station area vision, having a local developer own the property is the next best thing to the City acquiring it themselves. In a way, maybe that frees up city resources to focus on acquiring ot...

Re: Sears Redevelopment
Oddly, the eastern terminus of 'Twin Cities Blvd' (and presumed transition point back to the existing freeway) is Marion St, or just before reaching this property. It would still be ideal to cap the 94/35E commons between Marion and Jackson. Frankly, I'd prioritize capping the freeways in/around bot...

Uptown tavern will be closing for good on October 22nd after 17 years per there Facebook. Always sad to see long time business close. Hopefully something new takes its place as it has a great space I'm assuming this includes when the business was called 'Drink', per the 2007-2011 streetview imagery...

Seems like if they had designed the Green Line to one day be extended eastward, rather than dead-ending it into a maintenance facility, that problem with the tracks and switches in front of Union Depot could've been avoided? Building a rail line into a downtown area with zero considerations for poss...

Phase 2 is very much underway. In retrospect, I'm kinda sad the phase 2 apartment building won't have any retail space, specifically with retail frontage along the south end of Cub's parking lot. It would be kinda suburban-feeling in terms of land use / vibes, but having this huge <50% utilized surf...

I wonder how much impact the spiking interest rates will have on future sales of the rowhomes, once Pulte gets through the initial waiting list of folks that have been waiting years to live here. Perhaps there's enough interest (the other kind) from older folks that are selling similarly-valued home...

The north building is mostly fine and experiences more grade change south to north. The south building feels more visible to the public / Target shoppers and they definitely should've dug out the parking garage a few feet deeper. It's basically at-grade for the entire length of the building. That or...

Well it sounds like they'd better offer public tours before demo'ing the current structure. As for the speculation, buying and operating an old office building doesn't seem like Sherman's wheelhouse, especially in the current office environment, even if they got it for half the assessed market value...

I know this is the Minneapolis thread, but I'm much more interested in Melvin Carter's future then Frey's. I tend to think the Frey well has been poisoned by the last few years, but Carter has come out unscathed. Tuesday's primary demonstrated that it's McCollum's 4th as long as she wants it, but s...

Apologies if this has already been suggested to death, but I swear we've talked about (probably in this very thread) how other cities have cameras on their buses that capture license plate info of cars parked in the bus lane and offenders get a ticket in the mail (and possibly automatically alerts t...

Wouldn't a better location for the transit center potentially be the south side of the mall? It would add a little extra running time to the 515 and other routes that come into the current location from the north/east, but the potential ridership gains by moving the transit center into the walkshed ...

Are all of the people advocating for bus lanes on Hennepin also advocating for putting the 5 back on Chicago and ensuring the D Line isn’t detoured when it opens later this year? Haven’t heard much advocacy on that much busier route with a much higher share of POC ridership…
