They passed up the projections for 2030 (at least as far as average weekday ridership) several years ago.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
It looks like FireBox Deli may be opening a location in the old Garden of Eva building on Marshall and Snelling. They have proposed some sort of addition to the building - can't wait to see more details! https://content.govdelivery.com/attachments/STPAUL/2018/11/02/file_attachments/1100692/pcactionm...

Re: East End / Thresher Square / Trader Joes - 713 Washington Ave S
I have never really understood Trader Joe's. It doesn't have the breadth of product range I expect from a "supermarket" but can't make up for that lacking with anything significant in the deli, meat or produce categories. That said, I did buy a couple of items on their opening day. Working...

Re: Hamline Station - (1333 University Avenue)
I've been puzzled for some time about the ownership of that large parcel. While the Target store is owned (as you would expect) by the Target Corporation, the property fronting University (which was split off for future development when the new Target was built) is owned by "Dayton Hudson Corpo...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
Been watching for this article on the Bremer site since Silophant posted the meeting notice a few days ago: https://www.twincities.com/2018/06/13/175-market-rate-apartments-planned-over-bremer-bank-by-allianz-field/ It doesn't mention Walgreens like the meeting notice does, and I do wonder how they ...

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
A ban on drive thrus seems pretty clear cut... but fast food? How is fast food even defined for such an ordinance?
I love having a Culver's in the Midway... it was the best recent addition to the neighborhood until the stadium came along.

Not development related, but a sign of how malls are stepping outside of their molds to draw people in. http://www.startribune.com/rosedale-s-winter-indoor-dog-walks-are-going-year-round/479032903/#1 We've done this a couple of Sunday mornings, and it is an awful lot of fun for both dogs and their p...

Hot Rods went on the market not long ago and has now closed. I wonder if any potential buyers would also be interested in the vacant lot next door.

Re: Roseville / Rosedale - General Topics
Strange they'd close Rosedale but not University Ave... must be some lease language somewhere. It was just last September that they sold the Rosedale store with an agreement to lease it back for 20 years, but who knows what sort of an early escape might have been written in. http://www.startribune....

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I talked with a couple of employees at Big Top and they have heard that they will be moving into the Perkins location this summer (quite a downsizing if true!) It seems like this would run afoul of Saint Paul's regulations related to liquor store spacing. Would Big Top argue that since some creative...

Re: Green Line LRT
I am often frustrated by the lack of preemption at 280 and would love to see that happen to even a minimal extent -- it doesn't seem an unreasonable expectation given traffic volumes. As far as Snelling (with 33,000 cars per day, the need to coordinate timing with the signal at Spruce Tree, and addi...

I wonder how long it will be before we start hearing calls for better odor control at West Rock as more developments like this start popping up in the area. Things can get a bit... fragrant over a large surrounding area during the summer.

Re: Arby’s Island
I love how people in multiple forums are trying to protect the Arby's sign. Those things were a dime a dozen and many still exist around the country, so let's not try and pretend this is the Grain Belt sign. ;) St. Paul has one on University (Last I knew) therefore Minneapolis has to have one. The ...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
In searching for any images of the skyway signage as I remember it (I have yet to dig into my own photos... there's a slim chance I have something I snapped in the mid 80's) I came across this map of planned expansion of the skyway system. The date given is "1965?" which probably isn't far...

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
I still think they had a good thing going with the late 70's early 80's wayfinding signage. Numbered routes one direction, color coded the other, and a simple stick man logo... Want to get from Donaldson's to Powers? Follow the "Green" route!

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
A sewer abandonment permit has been issued for the American Bank building on the corner of Snelling and University. So I think it's safe to say the long-dead proposal for Walgreens to move to that corner is even deader than before. But why prepare for demolition now, unless there is something in the...
