Re: Riverview Corridor Streetcar
If the Blue and Green Lines can share tracks through DT Minneapolis, and Blue and Riverview can share tracks through the airport/Bloomington, I don't understand why the tracks through DT St Paul can't be shared. Especially since there's no new OMF planned for this line (right?), they'll need access...

Summer 2025 being the best case scenario isn't great! If "34 months" doesn't include a testing period, we're probably looking more at December 2025 as best case. At any rate, that's 2+ years later than was projected when they began initial construction. Late 2023 was pretty official, righ...

Do car dealerships in general have a future? Online car sales are already up to 15% of the total, and only growing. In 10 years are we going to need 5 Honda dealerships in the metro, as we currently have? I'd guess the answer is no, though I am far from an expert. Ford has said their planning to re...

I saw a comment on Twitter? Has anyone heard about St. Thomas building a hockey arena as part of the development? I don't see it fitting in the master plan, but could be possible for the current Lund's site.

Is there anyway that the train could be built to be operational from west lake station to eden prairie? And maybe extending to the farmers market from target field. With the B Line opening in 2024. There would still be a solid connection to the rest of the city's transit albeit much slower the the ...

Dumb question... if Arenas or stadiums only are so temporary why can’t we build them more “disposable” like ikea? ... build them out of metal and glass and keep concrete pouring lower (ie limited to footings) to keep costs down. That way the glass and metal can be recycled without crazy demolition ...

Are they doing anything with what I presume is a historic station along the Cedar Lake Trail just before I think 394 and where the trail splits? It's coated in graffiti now. Are you thinking of this? https://www.google.com/maps/@44.9701871,-93.3016114,3a,75y,271.98h,97.68t/data=!3m8!1e1!3m6!1sAF1Qi...

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
I believe Metro Transit is not using the level platform stops at any of the stations because they were designed with the old buses in mind. MVTA is not using the SB stops or the NB level platform stops at Apple Valley Station because of COVID. I'm out of the area now, but did the Red Line buses not...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Why is it that with all the space available between the Bryn Mawr Station and just west of I-94 they insisted on having the light rail tracks right next to the BNSF tracks? Seems like they could've saved some money and headache having the light rail tracks further away from the freight tracks in th...

Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)
Probably too late to abandon the tunnel idea, and lay the rail on the surface. We are spending more than $100 million dollars on this tunnel to avoid either * a short section of dedicated single track operation for the LRT, or * having freight rail share track in the same direction no more than 3 t...

I would presume Seattle's ability to receive funds for grade-separated guideway is due to the high cost of right-of-way acquisition. We're getting near that tipping point in Portland.

I think keep it running down 55 , redevelopment at the golf course (spend that money buying them out instead of the railroad company) then power through glenview terrace park and valley view park (shallow tunnel to preserve park space?) then follow up Theodore wirth pkwy to bottineau blvd. Golf cou...

We have it here in Portland. I find that it works pretty well. I just hope Metro Transit didn't adopt TriMet's bike rack style. They also found it will seat more people as people are more likely to sit next to each other and it increased the crush capacity for times like after sporting events

I believe that they are referring to the pedestrian tunnels along the corridor as well.I keep reading that there are 8 tunnels on the SW LRT. Can anyone shed some like on this, because from watching the flyover video, I only count two.

I really like how this could potentially tie into the river. It reminds me of the Rheinboulevard in Cologne.

Re: Freight Rail News and Happenings
One of the issues here is that Amtrak is such a tiny organization, relatively speaking -- 31.7 million passengers last year compared to 4.7 billion passengers on Deutsche Bahn (Germany's national rail network), for instance. A small number of heritage equipment owners will cause a lot more headache...
