Re: Bottineau LRT
I personally can't see a scenario in which this line actively avoids the black population by going through Golden Valley instead of North Minneapolis, and Maple Grove instead of Brooklyn Park. In fact, I see a public outcry if that were to happen -- whether the numbers make less sense or not!

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development
Magellan appeared to have put in a lot of time, energy, and money into getting this project approved last winter. This project is clearly geared towards attracting very upscale renters, and they must feel this market is strong for that. Some of the delay may have to do with the timing structure tha...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development
Wow...I think you're both wrong! The current market conditions don't look to be slowing down very much and there's reason to believe that current demand will continue for a little while. Given the space constraints that already exist downtown, coupled with the addition of some of these blockier proj...

Re: Southwest LRT
^Yeah, I think there's about $50 million in "slush funds" that was not dedicated to any one project, but instead set aside so all the projects that did not receive State funding could fight for the last piece of the pie. Anyone needing a substantial piece of this is going to be out of luck...

DumberGuy: I think it's the same reason you see pigeons, rats, and cockroaches congregate in the city core -- opportunity (I'm NOT saying any one person is a pigeon, rat or roach, but the point is that things in general that scavenge for opportunity tend to do so where there is the most opportunity:...

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
My fantasy would be for Minneapolis to build a (man-made) downtown lake. It'd have to be a "lake", as defined by the State and/or U.S. definition and it'd be between the CBD and Downtown East, probably around 5th St. and 7th St. In this fantasy, downtown's future would develop East (South ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I liked the one that was pictured for Linden Ave. It looked like a thick silver frisbee and slick as shit! Vikings or no though, I'm just as excited for the surrounding area near the (current Dome) as that neighborhood continues to transition from a historic Minneapolis legacy to a modern one!
