Re: Central Corridor LRT
Cedar street in downtown is definitely slow going. I work along this street. What a mess. I've watched crews for the last year or so dig up the 7th and Cedar intersection (Wells Fargo Place, Town Square, MPR HQ) about 10 times already. It's maddening. They'll dig up one part, do some utility work, r...

Re: So, what happened to Minnescraper?
Nicely said. All the criticism directed at the owner of minnescraper recently has been very unfair. That person was providing tons of people a free site to interact with, while paying for it on their own. I hope they aren't feeling embarrassed or anything. Minnescraper's forum was a lot of fun and I...

Re: Nicollet Residences
I'm not sure that just because the Strib has posted expected start/completion dates that these things will all get built, but it sure doesn't hurt either. I'd like to hear something directly from the developers of LaSalle and Nicollet before I exhale. Well I'm sure the Star Trib didn't just pull th...

The cranes are indeed a nice sign. Lots of economic activity.

West Side Flats - (84 Wabasha Street South)
Sherman Associates is about to finally break ground on a new mixed use apartment building just south of downtown across the river near Harriet Island. The building will have 178 apartments and 6,000 square feet of commercial space. It will be five stories tall along Fillmore Ave and step down to fou...

http://extras.mnginteractive.com/live/media/site569/2012/0405/20120405_071331_baseballstadiumvelodrome.jpg I think that's a proposal by Bill Hosko. That'll never happen. He's rubbed city hall/council wrong too many times. I think St. Paul will get a piece of the DEED money. The rest they may be abl...

Re: 940 Selby Avenue
There's a NIMBY's website, similar in concept to the anti-Linden Corner development, http://stop940selby.com/ . Too tall, too many units, noise from student renters, no sun-study... same old same old. It's going to be 35 feet high now. The price tag is reportedly $1.5-1.9 million. Which makes this s...

Re: Mill & Main
I see they broke away from the mold a bit and went for 7 floors instead of 6 -- how daring! Seems some developers and construction companies are trying to stretch the floor and height limits of wood framed buildings. There are several projects I think that'll wind up around 80+ feet high. I'm sure ...

No kidding. This is not some of ESG's finest work.yea i wouldn't have a problem with something similar to the linden ave rendering. just please not a knock-off of what Indy has. it's a functional stadium but looks like an enormous shed.

Re: IDS Center
Thanks for posting! The IDS of the 70's reminds me of a current tower that just finished in OKC (Devon Tower, 844'). They now have a similar 70's Minneapolis skyline. Devon is almost twice as tall as anything else in OKC. The IDS really did put Minneapolis on the map. Now if only Target or someone e...

Keep the movie theater, but turn it into an Art House movie theater and allow it to sell beer. Try to get Lucky Strike to take over the bowling alley vacated by Gameworks. Fill in the remaining street level retail with local restaurants and bars (no chains) and fill in the skyway area with places u...

Tried copying a photo, didn't work. Go to Google Images, and type in IDS Center Construction. Only 1 pic on there that I found, it is when construction was about half way done. Thanks! Here it is. Thanks for starting a thread on the IDS.
I would love to see some construction photos if anyone has them. I've only found one or two on the MN Historical Society photo database. And those were of its foundations and digging. Anyone?

Re: 2700 University Ave
I wouldn't consider this a part of the U of M campus myself, it's almost closer to 280 than the U. I think this has a good chance. Wellington has been sitting on this lot for a long time. I gotta think they're pretty eager to get something built. And Doran has been quite prolific of late. They seem ...
