Re: Saints Lowertown Ballpark

The wood exterior isn't for certain. Saints owners asked the architect to present them a really "out there" design to guage public reaction. For the most part its been pretty positive according to them. A brick exterior would obviously fit in better with the rest of the Lowertown buildings...

Episcopal Homes - (1890 University Avenue)

Episcopal Homes is proposing a 7-story 170 unit senior housing apartment building on the site of the former Porky's restaurant. The developer is currently seeking a rezoning of the plat to T3 which would allow a building height of 80 feet. The request for rezoning has strong support and should be ap...

I saw another building just east of this is being demolished to make way for a new retail building as well. So much change in store for University Ave. :D

Re: 1101 University Ave. SE (University Lutheran Chapel site

Correct. The commission recommended pretty much all Doran's requests for variances to be denied. I think it'll be going back to the drawing board.

I'll test with a photo, this one is 1024x768. The photo fits the screen well, but pushes my username slightly off the screen. I'd recommend setting up the screen to ~1050.

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development

The demand is certainly here for apartments. I think it really comes down to whether a developer can secure financing. I wonder if perhaps lenders are wary of this particular project though. I still don't think its got enough parking for our market. The elevator double decker style parking seems lik...

Re: Downtown Crime

Some simple surveillance cameras could go a long way in keeping crime down. St. Paul has been installing dozens since it held the RNC convention back in 2008. Most have popped up in downtown and along University Ave. http://storage.canoe.ca/v1/dynamic_resize/sws_path/suns-prod-images/1297267135960_O...

Re: The Penfield

Yeah, HUD was really the biggest delay to getting this project going. I've heard groundbreaking could be anytime between June 15-July 15. Demolition of the old Public Service Building and preserving (by means of bracing the walls) the south and part of the west wall should take approximately four mo...

Re: Permissions & First Posts

I must say it bugged me having small-ish pictures. I would typically use imageshack to post my pictures and have to have them resized smaller, whereas on a site like Skyscarpercity, I could post pictures much larger. I've switched to Flickr, which allows me to easily post pictures in different sizes...

Re: Radisson Blu

A construction update from today. I wasn't too impressed with the render, but seeing it in person, it's much better looking. Still not a fan of the orange exterior part. But overall, it's not as bad as I thought. http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7230/7322167504_c22351a419_z.jpg DSCN1191 by spectre 000 ...

Re: 1368 LaSalle Ave development

I'll take this project over Nico. Residences. Simply for the fact it's being developed by a major out of state developer, Magellan. They have a great track record in Chicago. If this project succeeds, then they might continue building more skyscrapers in the twin cities. I like to imagine them buyin...
