Island Station

http://www.twincities.com/stpaul/ci_21751075/st-paul-coal-plant-developer-miffed-at-city After 37 years gathering dust and graffiti, the abandoned Island Station power plant in St. Paul might have to wait months, if not years, for a new direction in life. City officials are balking at a developer's ...

Re: St. Croix River Crossing

Could it really be that hard to reorient the building to the corner?
Does it really matter in this industrial area?

Re: Vikings Stadium

Disagree I think in 10 years of so, when this could happen, soccer will have a huge surge in popularity. I have many friends who love it, and there is a huge push for the US to start having more pro-soccer. It's ever growing. I think the problem with acceptance of soccer is the clock counts up rath...

How bout instead of a single beep, it does that riff from Funkytown? Edit: you know, bee-beep-boop-BEEP-boop, boo-boop-beep-boo-boop. when i was in portland, the automated station announcement was the voice of a woman, followed by a man translating to spanish. but for the chinatown station, for som...

Re: Culver's (1491 University Avenue)

mcdonalds has a drive thru on university near this site but it is entered from the side street and empties out into the alley so it's impact on the pedestrian environment was minimized. i hope the city at least asked for that much. what a shame if there is a curb cut on university to facilitate park...

Re: Soo Line Building Apartments - (501 Marquette Avenue)

Why, that's downright un-American! ;) I had thought that they were going to call it CP Plaza, which I was thinking was to "hide" that it is a foreign-owned company. Guess not! I like the sound of Canadian Pacific Plaza better than CP Plaza, anyway. Canada is part of America too. http://en...

I kinda of see some of the Art Deco of the Old Homes Factory that is east of Lexington there on University with the 2 towers (the large verticles windows) and the cornices at the top of the buildings. I like the art deco look too. here's the old home building: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&...

we already have a zone system, right? downtown zone. so if visitors can figure that one out, then they should be able to figure out if they're in zone 2 or 3, especially if they start their trip there. and you can always just ask the bus driver where the downtown zone ends... How do you enforce thi...

Too many cooks in the kitchen... It's not like they can hold a referendum on the options. This is representative gov't in action. this is a huge public amenity, like a lrt cooridor or a regional park. in those cases, the public has opportunity to provide comment on design. is that going to happen o...
