Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT

With current staffing it seems like quite the challenge to have blue line extension and green line extension operating at 10 min headways in 2030. Who knows what the labor market will be like then, but I’d imagine metro transit will need to at least double the number of operators Sent from my iPhone...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

What do people think about adding another station on 7th street just north of Olson/6th? Would be a good transfer point for both the C and D lines, but current land use around the station is very poor and it is less than .5 miles from target field station. And of course there is a travel time penalt...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

I wonder if it is just for stop spacing reasons? This way they can fit 3 stations from 94 to Penn with about .5 mile spacing, which is the same spacing as the green line in Saint Paul. With just Emerson and Penn there are 2 stations ~.75 miles apart and it doesn’t make much sense to put a 3rd statio...

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT

Brooklyn Park probably wants to keep the northernmost two stations given that the terminus station area (oak grove parkway) is mostly undeveloped land that they want to see developed as mixed use TOD according to their comp plan. And if the light rail can spur that kind of development, it could actu...

Re: Interstate 94

Certainly *most* of the trips on 94 through this stretch are local, but the long-distance traffic isn't zero. Certainly some of those long-distance travellers could re-route along the 494/694 loop, 62, 36, etc. Maybe not a huge effect, but not negligible either. Additionally, for those of us who as...

Re: Interstate 94

To everyone talking about the many 10s of thousands of cars a boulevard would push to other streets - what do you think will happen while 94 is closed for construction? Do you expect 100,000 trips to be taken on Marshall and University daily? I find that hard to imagine. It didn’t happen on Nicollet...

Re: Interstate 94

Does anyone know when 94 between Brooklyn park and downtown Minneapolis would be up for a “rethinking”? I think that could potentially be a more politically feasible removal, since 100 parallels it and you could take 100 to 394 to get downtown if 94 was gone. For the record, I personally support rem...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

It's a huge project, I don't know what you all expect? A huge reason for the delays is the tunnel which is costing a ton and will primarily benefit cyclists. As a cyclist and taxpayer I wish they didn't do the tunnel at all, but what is done is done. I think a lot of the frustration is due to the c...

Trying to keep track of projects on the city website is hopeless, so much project info is out of date

Cedar Lake Trail to downtown is now closed until 2025. Was supposed to reopen in 2021. "The Kenilworth Trail, a popular downtown commuter line between Lake of the Isles and Cedar Lake, has been closed since 2019 and won't reopen until 2025." "The North Cedar Lake Trail that runs near...

Construction on Lake Street is officially underway. The 4-3 conversion is not going over well on Nextdoor.
It boggles my mind that some people are against 4-3 conversions. The Lyndale one is such an improvement

wtf do you think they're getting at here-
"Increasing the functionality of University Ave. and SE 4th St. from Central Ave. to I-35W"
That line made me nervous - is that a euphemism for personal vehicle flow/capacity?

Re: Northern Lights Express

What is the expected service, like hourly or once every 2 hours during the daytime? It can’t be as infrequent as the Northstar line with only just a few trips a day right? What are the projected ridership is it accurate or unrealistic? Just wondering if anyone here has fact based opinion as to if t...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

A little frustrating that it's only stop signs, not stoplights, but thinking more about it, most stop lights that I'd be comfortable treating as a stop sign are on low-enough traffic streets that they should be four-way stops anyway, so I guess the move is to advocate for that. 35th and Bryant come...
