Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Pretty sure the $60 million in busway funding is to fill the gap on F Line and fully fund H Line. Gold and Purple are funded by Ramsey County, Washington County, and the FTA.

Re: Red Line (Cedar Avenue BRT)
I'm surprised no one mentioned it so far in this thread. The Red Line only runs every 30 mins all days of the week now since Dec 4th. Truly disappointing when the METRO system is branded as Fast. Frequent. All Day. All Yours.

Rochester LINK BRT
https://www.rochestermn.gov/government/departments/public-transportation/link I didn't see a category for this Transit project. So I thought I would add it. It looks like it will be moving into final design this year, and construction in 2023/2024 with an opening in 2025. It definitely connects some...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)
If the residents don't support it and their CM doesn't. Then why should they be forced to have it? Are businesses paying assessments on this and not want it? These folks live, do business in the area and pay taxes...they should have a say just as much as those who want complete streets and etc. (Or...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha LRT)
Too bad they aren't going with "Winstead Way". There's too many numbered roads in the Twin Cities and "30th Ave" provides poor locational context, IMO. I agree, but since it will already cost $15k to rename the station, I assume they want the shorter name. If I recall correctly ...

It also looks like Dakota County voted it down in 2017 anyways.

The medium-cursed Ling & Louie's/Randle's/Rojo space is getting a new tenant next month, according to Axios, with a rooftop patio on the roof (obviously), a lounge on the mezzanine, a Joey Meatballs on the ground floor, and a dance floor in the basement. Should be pretty cool. This is good, bri...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
On average, about 600 rides are being taken on the METRO Orange Line each weekday, twice the amount taken on the route it replaced, Route 535.
Tis a bit grim, but we are still in a pandemic and seeing a double in ridership.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Speaking as someone who used to take the 535 regularly to normandale, looking on the schedule off of google maps the orange line doesn't seem it would of made my commute easier since the time savings are mostly undercut by having to wait for a transfer to the 539 and iirc the 539 still only runs ev...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
I just chatted with a lady who lives near the 76th and Knox Station and she uses the Orange Line to get to Burnsville Center for a job at Macys, which wouldn’t have been possibly before without a super long convoluted transit trip.

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
Given that there's no capacity issues at the Burnsville Transit Station because of Covid, it's better to just park there and take the direct expresses that are more frequent at peak and reasonably frequent during the day (every 30 mins). That applies to only weekdays. Weekends the Orange Line is th...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project
The parking ramp closest to the station at Heart of the City is one block away. Not sure if park & riders can use it but I don't see why not. It's not like that area has limited parking, and it's an acceptable walking distance from your car to the Orange Line stop. Fort Snelling Station has a p...

Re: RBC Gateway (Four Seasons) - 37 stories - 519'
Nothing says 'gateway to Minneapolis' like the royal bank of canada. Agreed that the signage it is small now that it is up, but no doubt they will light the sign to really make it pop. For me it cheapens the experience of the building and skyline. I thought Minneapolis had some sort of ban on this-...
