Capella Tower - 225 South 6th St
I noticed they changed their permanent lighting display to a rotating scheme. I'm not a huge fan. What does everyone else think?

Re: City Center
It would be nice if Shorenstein Properties would reclad the 33 S. Sixth tower in silver or light blue. It's really an eyesore.

Re: Magellan Apartment Tower - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
This thing is dead. Count on parking your '89 Civic here for the next seven-nine years until someone with conviction steps up to the plate. I hate to say it, but I think you are right. This project was supposed to be underway by summer's end and there hasn't been any indication that it will be brea...

Re: Fine Assoc LLC Development - Cedar Riverside
I'm disappointed this development won't be at least 15 to 20 stories, especially considering it's location near dense high rises and mass transit. I'm not really surprised though as Minneapolis officials and developers seem to want the city to look more like some sunbelt city than a true, urban city.

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
According to a recent Finance & Commerce article, Opus will begin demolishing a small commercial building on the site in the beginning of October. That said, things should be getting underway soon.

Re: New Target Building - (1001 Nicollet Mall)
Yes, they could build a 60 story building there if they wanted to as the site is large enough. And what they mean by "in the near future" can be interpreted different ways. My hunch is possibly 5-10 years from now. Yes, they (Target) could IF they wanted to, but IMO, they will end up forc...

Re: 330 South 12th
If this idea comes to fruition, hopefully we will see something outside the Minneapolis norm of late, which is way too conservative and bland. This is a convention hotel so, not only should the interior be well above average, but so too should the exterior. Furthermore, wouldn't it be a better idea ...

Re: Nicollet Residences - (455 Nicollet Mall)
I have access to F & C and there isn't anything new to announce. "When it was announced a year ago, plans for Nicollet Residences called for a 33-story tower with 330 market-rate apartments. The revised plan envisions a 27-story building with 250 apartments on the site of the former Powers ...

* McGladrey has announced that it will be moving its headquarters to Chicago. There won't be any local jobs lost, but there will be 300 - 500 workers added to Chicago over the next 5 years. McGladrey will be consolidating its Twin Cities offices this September when it moves 120 employees from its Bl...

Re: Dock Street Apartments
Minneapolis has become too conservative for this type of architecture. I agree. I see someone (probably from an renter, too) complaining about not being able to view Target Field from their window anymore, or something lame like that. That, or this won't fit with the "historic character of the...

Minneapolis - St. Paul Business News
I figured we should have a thread dedicated to MPLS - STPL area business news (positive and negative). Recent news regarding Best Buy and now SuperValu has me a bit concerned about the impact on the region from lost jobs, the disappearance of one or both of these Fortune 500 companies, as well as an...

Re: Nicollet Residences
I NEVER liked the design of this thing, or even having this location being 100% residential. I ALWAYS wanted Opus to put up, at the very least, a mixed-use building or office building -- 30 floors MINIMUM. This location is THE location in downtown for new development, IMO, and I think this is a ser...
