Re: Lowa46 - 46th & Hiawatha Cub Foods Mixed Use
Where it’s at Sorry for the snark... but phase 2 is just south of Lowa46 (phase 1) - at 46th & Hiawatha - literally in the title of the thread. The link above your post has a map included too, but here's a Google map screen grab as well. If you're familiar with the Dairy Queen near Minneahaha P...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis LRT Tunnel Discussion
Ok I like the idea of an underground LRT tunnel.. I think of the possibilities! An underground connection directly into the US Bank Stadium, A direct connection to the Hennepin county courthouse tunnel/skyway corridor, An merged Hennepin/Nicollet Mall station that provides a pedestrian-only corrido...

Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
I'm working with Michael Rainville's office to install a midblock flashing crosswalk between Target Field Station and North Loop Green. Many people cross there anyways, and with the addition of a large development like NLG there will just be so many more people looking to cross between the light ra...

Re: Nicollet-Lake - greater Kmart area
They are putting the concrete barriers and fencing back up around the precinct again. Really sad to see, anyone know why? The video for the death of Tyre Nichols will be released sometime today. I'm hearing through the grapevine that there may be protests later today or tomorrow once its released.

Re: Dan Patch Intercity Regional Passenger Rail
HF 246 has passed the sustainable infrastructure committee and moved on to the transportation committee.
This bill would repeal the gag order of Dan Patch and Intercity rail from the Twin Cities to Rochester.
Me and 3 of my friends testified at the committee meeting today.

Re: Northern Lights Express
I don't hate the Minneapolis station. There is an indoor waiting area that can be used and it has a good connection to the light rail. Until more tracks are needed and Ramp B can be converted into a future station utilizing part of the 394 trench for tracks, I think Minneapolis station will serve ju...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
I'm wondering if the impending closure of the Sherco Plant and its three coal trains per day will have a major impact on congestion, or if there's enough freight traffic that that doesn't really make a difference. The Northstar Line sees about 80 freight trains per day according to the last Northst...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
BNSF said they need one track for dedicated freight service, they use one track for passenger service and then do maintenance on the passenger track during the midday so likely it would require three tracks for midday frequent service. 100% agreed it shouldn't be triple tracked to St Cloud. But Anok...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
I'd love to see this happen but getting BNSF on board might be an issue since 1. it's a very busy mainline and they own it and 2. BNSF would be running the trains It would require triple tracking for the length of where we want to run regional rail type service, hence why I only want it to go to An...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Well if they do another study hopefully it won't be a dust collector like the one from 2020, and they're more ambitious with service proposals. Doesn't have to be LRT frequency, but it should be regional rail frequency. Regional rail frequency should be implemented between Anoka and Downtown Minnea...

I'm so excited to see this happen! Will they have to do a new study or will the 2020 study be what they use to determine service?

Re: Park and Portland Avenues
Yeah, it's going to be an improvement. But I've been a bit disappointed that nobody thought to dream a little bigger. What about returning one of the streets to two-way traffic and remaking the other as a greenway and linear park? Instead, the I-35W reconstruction status quo has just gotten baked i...

Only the NE triangle is private property - the SW portion of this site is still public right of way (formerly a street) and would have to be sold to a developer to get a larger redevelopment site. Could be a great positive outcome from the simplification of the Cedar / Franklin / Minnehaha intersec...

That location didn't have a drive through. It'll be interesting to see if there's any interest from other fast food franchises, to either validate or put to bed the theory that non-conforming drive thrus will be prized and sought after by other restaurants.

Re: Amtrak Empire Builder and TCMC
I've always felt that the Twin Cities to Rochester boosters have suffered from a bit of tunnel vision. This city pair makes sense a lot more sense as part of a longer route. That could mean a locally focused route serving Rosemount (26.6k), Farmington (23.5k), Northfield (20.7k), Faribault (24.4k),...
