I'm guessing they pretend it's not part of the METRO system anymore, blaming everything to MVTA. /sHow about the bullsh*t rapid transit known as the Red Line? Any increase in ridership? Not that it would really matter unless it broke over 1,000.

Re: Twin Cities' National and Global Image
From Michigan's point-of-view, not to mention the greater Detroit Metro, Twin Cities' regionalism is definitely something to be modeled after. Looking at their transit debate with DDOT vs. SMART, and now with RTA in the pictures, and not having enough long-term funding that doesn't cross the county ...

Re: Northern Lights Express
IIRC, the original plan for "the Interchange" Phase II used to include a plan for constructing a whole new glass train hall for commuter/regional rail passengers, above the current platform and connect it to 5th St.

Seattle to Vancouver "WA" (aka 'the Couv') is 7 times a day, but Seattle to Vancouver "BC" is only twice a day.

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
It's probably just my personal perception, but I don't feel the proposed stop locations at CP Spur is that much far from W 7th St, maybe except at Otto, or at Montreal---and considering the future developments near Davern St, Victoria Park and Schmidt Brewing, I believe the center of gravity is shif...

Hmm... Shouldn't CP Spur alignment be cheaper tho? I was guessing it to be a hybrid alignment, for sure, but I guess I was wrong.

http://www.seattletimes.com/business/amazon/amazons-second-headquarters-expect-the-unexpected/ I read this article on my bus ride to work in downtown Seattle, passing by Amazon HQ, and since then, I'm definitely on the hype train. I think we have a really strong case for MSP/MN compared to some oth...

I don't have my thesis posted online unfortunately, but here's a link to the 'teaser' presentation slides for the talk I gave. I'm out of town for post-graduation travelling duties, but I'll make sure to check in with the thread after I come back in couple weeks! https://docs.google.com/presentation...

I just finished my master's thesis at grad school on this exact topic---the more I study on this issue, the more fascinating it gets!
But the short answer on this question is... "it's complex" and "it depends"...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Agreed. Riverview Branch Line can (or maybe "should", considering the cost-effectiveness concerns) terminate at Ford & Woodlawn, facilitating easy transfers btwn Riverview LRT and A Line aBRT. If through-routing the branch line trains to dwtn St. Paul is too hard, considering interline...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I'm still personally infatuated with Alignment #10---using CP spur is a no-brainer---higher potential for shorter travel time and higher reliability. (less grade-crossings/conflicts with vehicular traffic on 7th St, I assume.) I wonder why we're still struggling between the Ford Spur alignments and ...

Re: Public Transit News and Current Happenings
Am I the only one who's bothered by the fact that they chose to categorize A-Line as a separate service category, but you can't find anything about the "METRO" Red Line? Coz it's run by MVTA, maybe?
