Almost gone!

The corner at Nicollet and 4th already feels 100x better with this beast gone. I hope when Xcel moves that whomever takes over the old building utilizes some of the sidewalk space for some dining. There is such good potential here.

The pillars at street level are now having their cladding removed. Maybe he is going to try and bring back some of the old world charm of the original design...

Doesn't look like a flooded construction site is slowing them down at all. Looks like a lake on the live stream today.

No picture update, but they have started pouring the footings for the building.

Today. Right before I took the picture they had dropped those top two floors. It was awesome to watch.

Now if only we could get residential development on the eastern side of Portland between 6th and 8th, behind the HCMC ramp and the Lehman's buildings.

Slightly off topic. I know at some point someone brought up the idea of that squat black Wells Fargo buiding on Washington and 3rd getting redeveloped due to these new Wells Fargo buildings. I can't seem to find the post though. Anyways, maybe this isn't news to everyone, but it is news to me, this ...

I think the estimated completion date is April 2015, so it might be ready for Baseball next year..

Is the skyway connection really that important here? You can still get to 510 by walking through 5th street towers and the Soo Line building and into the parking ramp. No picture update, but the skyway section over the property is now on the ground. Lots of big cranes on the site today I imagine to move the big steel section of the skyway frame. Won't be long for excavation to start now.

You people have a short memory. Do you not remember how long it took to get shovels in the ground for Nic on 5th and LPM? It'll happen eventually!

I think it'll end up looking similar to Nic on 5th in stature, except not as squat looking being that the building looks thinner.

I still think that these two buildings are too close together, +/- 40'...that is packing the density on this one...is this city ready for residential buildings this tall that are this close together? Granted they aren't this tall, but some of the buildings are packed tightly together in the north l...

though, including the cost of demolition, property taxes, and parking revenue, I wonder if they are still in the red on the lot.
