Almost gone!
The corner at Nicollet and 4th already feels 100x better with this beast gone. I hope when Xcel moves that whomever takes over the old building utilizes some of the sidewalk space for some dining. There is such good potential here.

Doesn't look like a flooded construction site is slowing them down at all. Looks like a lake on the live stream today.

Re: Hennepin County Medical Center (HCMC) Clinic Expansion
You mean something like Sexton Phase II?Now if only we could get residential development on the eastern side of Portland between 6th and 8th, behind the HCMC ramp and the Lehman's buildings.
(the site plan above incorrectly labels Park as Portland)

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
Slightly off topic. I know at some point someone brought up the idea of that squat black Wells Fargo buiding on Washington and 3rd getting redeveloped due to these new Wells Fargo buildings. I can't seem to find the post though. Anyways, maybe this isn't news to everyone, but it is news to me, this ...

I think the estimated completion date is April 2015, so it might be ready for Baseball next year..
Also, I work in that building, the pounding shakes the whole place!

Re: 510 Marquette Avenue
Is the skyway connection really that important here? You can still get to 510 by walking through 5th street towers and the Soo Line building and into the parking ramp. There a skyway connects to the Westin and 510. Sure it's a little out of the way, but then again that is the nature of the skyway sy...

Wow, what a mess. That phase two building would have been a nice addition to that corner too.

Well being the article was dated March 5th 2014, it's a good guess.

Also, this March 5th article, which is paywalled has some more information: http://finance-commerce.com/2014/03/apartment-vacancy-rate-doubles-in-downtown-minneapolis/ Mortenson Development is expected to begin construction soon on the 262-unit 4Marq apartment tower and Google provides this brief qu...

Re: Hampton Inn & Suites - (19 8th Street North)
No picture update, but the skyway section over the property is now on the ground. Lots of big cranes on the site today I imagine to move the big steel section of the skyway frame. Won't be long for excavation to start now.

You people have a short memory. Do you not remember how long it took to get shovels in the ground for Nic on 5th and LPM? It'll happen eventually!

Re: Hampton Inn & Suites - (19 8th Street North)
I think the other half will come down eventually. That support pillar at the edge of the property will have to come down sooner or later. They closed the skyway exactly one month ago today and the progress of demolition has been disappointing. Though they have made good progress today, the other sid...

I think it'll end up looking similar to Nic on 5th in stature, except not as squat looking being that the building looks thinner.

I still think that these two buildings are too close together, +/- 40'...that is packing the density on this one...is this city ready for residential buildings this tall that are this close together? Granted they aren't this tall, but some of the buildings are packed tightly together in the north l...

James Lileks is a Star Tribune writer and has a nice website setup. Here are a few links on the buildings you are asking about (if you haven't already found his page). http://www.lileks.com/mpls/conserv/index.html http://www.lileks.com/mpls/citycenter/index.html (but sadly no good images) http://www...
