Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I'm starting to hope this whole Blue Line extension project collapses based on the new, proposed route. The route past Robinsdale down the middle of a 6-lane stroad is awful, and now the North Minneapolis routing is looking pretty bad. I fear the route along 10th and 21st Avenues will make access f...

Were they trying to blow stimulus money? Weird time to expand.

There's a big decal-type sign for this up on the existing building at the corner of Washington and 3rd Avenue, but they didn't splurge for fancier renderings than what we've already seen. Hope this one ends up working out!

Maybe they could partner with First Avenue to build a community performing arts space? We don't have one of those on the river up there.

Re: Alatus Residential Project - 228 South 12th Street (32 stories - ~348'/405')
It was too bad that this never panned out. I thought it was a pretty good proposal and would have maybe gotten a bit more going on this side of downtown.

I always remember a MinnPost article from ages ago citing a study saying that 99% of Northsiders “have or know someone who has asthma” as an example of the hard-hitting, data-driven thinking around HERC.

There also appears to finally be some construction going on in the former McCormick and Schmick’s space at 9th & Nicollet.

Re: MPS Comprehensive District Design
It did seem like an odd strategy to end the strike by committing to use a bunch of one time funding to create ongoing expenses when there was already a significant budget deficit--not sure if anyone noticed this at the time.

This issue is now coded as Annoying, but they should still change it. God knows what they'd come up with for a new one, though!

Re: Nicollet Mall
Capacity on Marquette & 2nd won't be a problem for a long time. Metro Transit is planning to cut a lot of the suspended routes as part of the Network Now initiative. Moving Nicollet buses to Marquette & 2nd does put bus riders on the empty office streets away from pretty much all the stores...

Every car driving around with missing and/or obscured license plates, or tabs that are a year expired, should be pulled over, towed, and crushed. You could have people from CURA run the car crusher if patronage jobs are a concern.

I took the Orange Line Friday night, and that 30 minute frequency is brutal. There were a few people (most of whom were not smoking) on it, at least.

Re: Do we really have a massive housing shortage?
I always thought that giving seniors the option to age into small apartment buildings in the neighborhoods they've lived in for 40 or 50 years was a really good argument in favor of allowing small apartment buildings in outlying neighborhoods around the city, and you don't really hear it played up m...
