Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Better build a tunnel so you don't have to look at a train on a rail corridor.

Re: Penn and American - Bloomington
Looks like they threw darts at a blueprint to determine what exterior finish to use on a given section of wall.

Is there enough parking at Southwest, or if not can more be built there?

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
Application before the city of Shakopee to replace the neon sign with an animated LED model. Interesting picture on Twitter. Orange utility markings are going up around Valleyfair. In the approximate boundaries where a Soak City expansion would logically be. https://twitter.com/CooperPedersen/status...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects
As far as Portland in Richfield, the preferred alternative is three 11 foot vehicle lanes, two 6 foot bicycle lanes, and a 6 foot sidewalk on one side and a 8 foot multi-use trail on the other. On street bicycle lanes and two sidewalks were rejected because a lot of casual bicyclists (myself include...

Re: Valleyfair - Shakopee
I should add that a lot of the rumors are well placed, rather than just random speculation from fans. The rumor last spring that it was the last year for IMAX and HydroBlaster turned out to be true, for example. There's more rumors that the next year's waterpark expansion will encompass more than ju...

Re: Star Tribune
Star Tribune has some of the worst user account management issues I've seen . When I first registered there years ago, my account simply wouldn't work so one of the moderators had to manually activate it. With the new comment system my account doesn't work again on any browser (which probably a lot ...

Re: Normandale Blvd Reconstruction
I really hate 4 lane undivided roads, and this is another step towards getting rid of them. Bloomington is already doing 4 to 2 or 3 lane conversion on most of their collector streets. Portland, Nicollet, and possibly Old Shakopee east of Portland would also function fine with 3 lanes. When I rode m...

Re: Hwy 252
Right now there doesn't seem to be any interest in trying to make a popup project happen, which is the only way there's going to be money for this in the next 20 years. I could see 85th (recognized as a bottleneck years ago) or 66th (recognized as one of the most dangerous interchanges in the state)...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I hate those things... A 12" green traffic signal module uses 12 watts, so even with 6 of them at a crosswalk it's like leaving the light in your garage on... The savings are more because you really can't buy anything less than a full fledged traffic signal controller with 16 physical outputs a...

Re: Hwy 252
This might be a good place for diverging diamonds, since they'd probably cost the same or less than a regular diamond interchange here and most of the traffic is probably going on off MN 252 so they'd work good from an vehicle operations point of view

Re: Interstate 35E
I'd be fine as a compromise where Mn/DOT takes over Ayd Mill and Shepard Road, and orients them for through traffic, and St. Paul can have Snelling and 7th and build bicycle trails or trains or ice cream stands or whatever, but there's that state law against moving MN 51 south of I-94. As for wantin...

Re: MN Highway 100
So it's not enough to have a multi-use trail on each side of the road, there need to be bicycle lanes too? SInce some people seem to think free right turns are a sign of the apocalypse they should be happy that both of the existing ones are being removed. Looks like there not adding any general purp...

Re: 26th / 28th Streets in South Minneapolis
Another 1940- early 1950s relic bites the dust. I asked the city of MInneapolis if I could buy them, and they (at least engineer in charge of the signal retiming project) said forget it.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
This guy seems to think rail service should offer a speedy experience: "One value of a built-out, interconnected rail system is that time does matter end to end because it’s a connection. Theoretically, one should be able to leave St. Paul, hop on light rail, transfer in Minneapolis and take t...

Re: Interstate 35E
Where's the Gateway Trail going, Arlington? Someone probably looked at the map and said "look at all the money we can save by moving the bicycle trail a block. And noone objected, unlike the project next city over. Yes, I wish they'd build the bridge, but I'd also wish they would build another ...

Re: Trader Joe's in downtown Minneapolis
Aren't there like... a million Wal-Marts between Uptown and Burnsville? Actually, no there aren't. The only one that is is in east Bloomington, but it's very very small for a Wal-Mart (about half the size of a typical supercenter) so it doesn't have the same kind of selection. I live in east Bloomi...

Yes, I made a statement I about some of the snobbishness I perceive of certain elements the bicycle culture that I thought better of, so I deleted the entire post, but in the same post I commented that wearing spandex, and I realize there's legit reasons for it, might be another thing that gives the...
