Re: 700 Central Ave. NE Apartments
It just seems like it's a bit on the outskirts of St. Anthony Main, and not close enough to the core neighborhoods of Central Avenue further up Nordeast. Eh, it's really not that far out. It's only a block from Red20. Once that new development is done, I think it will really start to pull together ...

Re: Northeast - General Topics
I was going to say! Posting photos of SE in a NE thread is very risky. I've always sort of wondered why whoever was planning the city decided that "Southeast" was a street indicator for this area. I get why it has the name, but wouldn't it have been easier to just keep with the "Nort...

Re: Stone Arch 2 - (520 2nd Street Southeast)
Just walked past this today while enjoying the weather and was wondering if it was finished. The exterior is so ugly above the brick.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
It's Minneapolis.. They go MINNE on everything. I bet they shrink the seats from 64,500 to 60,000 before it's all said and done. Don't the gophers have the smallest stadium in the big 10? ..It's Minneapolis. Would you be happier if they added 30,000 seats and added that to the taxpayer bill? ;) 30,...

Re: Superior Plating site
Something in the 6-10 story range would actually seem to be better here. Arent there townhomes and single family homes really close to this? There are townhouses just across University. The only single-family homes in the area are across the railroad tracks, past another townhouse development, and ...

Re: Former Archive Condos - (700 Central Avenue Northeast)
Strange enough, I was just going past here this morning (as I live a few blocks away) and was thinking to myself, "Hmm...I haven't heard anything recently about that project...wonder if it'll ever come to something..."

Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
? The first pic is of the structure going up, the second is the adjacent building undergoing rehab as the exterior was in pretty rough shape. Correct me if I'm wrong, Nick. I drove by this tonight while checking out some potential places (had to waste some time with showings on our current place - ...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
Very true. Although I suppose it should be said that journalistic ethics when Times Square was named were...ahem...very different, to say the least.I guess Times Square doesn't exist.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
But what does it represent, other than a dying newspaper business? That's my problem with "le Arc de' Strib". I'm not particularly thrilled about the building itself, but I suppose it should be noted that the newspaper business might be dying, but the media business isn't. I have no doubt...

Re: City Center
You will be less likely to have north siders going to watch a movie when the ticket prices, food, and beverages are going to mean a left kidney to get in. Also it will be enough out of the way so that it is not easily accessible unless they want to do some walking. Don't mean to put down anyone fro...

Re: Living in Loring Park area?
Loring Park is great, and so is North Loop, North loop is going to have a lot more retail shops and restaurants. In Loring Park, I find you have to go to Downtown in order to find a variety of shops or food, and a lot of downtown closes when the offices close. North Loop is definitely "open la...

Re: Duluth Housing News
Duluth definitely could use some new housing stock. I can see the challenge of building on the hill though. Honestly, I don't think you'd see a terrible amount of development in the Central Hillside neighborhood. A lot of Duluth sits on flat land (Western parts of Duluth, the east, and--of course--...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
Even though they're still there, Goldman is probably right. The city should be prepared to start upping the on-street rates as off-street supply dwindles and/or becomes more for residential use. It's shocking how cheap the rates are there, and that on Friday/Saturday nights it's still free (after 6...

Right, but the workout room is just one of many amenities typically offered.. Party room(s) with a full kitchen/fireplaces/TVs/furnishings/etc, dog runs and/or dog washing stations, indoor pools and hot tubs, rooftop patios, etc etc. Not all of them have these amenities, but in total they start hit...

In general I can't imagine why college kids would pay extra for a crappy "fitness center" with a couple ellipticals and treadmills stuffed in a room by the parking garage - or why it would even weigh into their selection. They all already pay (non-optionally) for memberships in the U's re...

Re: Minneapolis City Politics General Discussion
MinnPost has a piece on getting to know the new councilmembers . I daresay it's mostly information people paying attention to city politics already know, but interesting to see it all gathered in one place. Some of the quotes do strike me as populist to the point of being unrealistic, but that's pol...
