MAC cosmetics at Hennepin/Lake is leaving: http://citypages.com/arts/mac-cosmetics-is-also-out-are-you-okay-uptown/565947861 From a commentor: Sephora opening and having cruelty free options killed the Mac store. If Mac was cruelty free I bet they wouldn’t of had a problem keeping the space. 🤷🏼♀️ A...

MNdible - LOL, it's true. Doesn't mean that I have to like the vocal majority who shuts down any changes in the area (multi-family housing, changes to park usage - Minnehaha Parkway plan to take away option for crosstown commuting) regardless of what it is by screaming and yelling at the speakers at...

Re: Apartments vs. Condos | Renting vs. Owning
She's the new Meg Tuthill in City Counsel. She's a NIMBY through and through (or is at least pandering to the wealthy SFH owner constituents in Ward 13) as seen during the Mnpls 2040 meeting I attended at SW High School).
I expect her to get reelected in 2021 because of this.

Per Reddit, the Freemont Bridge over the Midtown Greenway got torn down yesterday. It's been pedestrian only for the last couple years due to structural issues. Plan is to replace it for car/bike/ped use. https://www.reddit.com/r/Minneapolis/comments/czs8fg/fremont_avenue_bridge_demolition_this_morn...

I think the E-Bikes will also have the benefit of new people trying the dedicated bicycle infrastructure out for the first time. This will increase support for the existing and future new bike lanes. This will be great for bicycling in Minneapolis where currently there is strong opposition to adding...

Good article about a U of M study on car passing distances in relationship to bicyclist gender in the Strib: "When they analyzed the readings, researchers found — no surprise — that protected bike lanes offered the best protection. Cars stayed an average 7.5 feet from cyclists cruising along a ...

As a recreational trail though, the up and down hills of the wooden boardwalk trail is super fun to ride between hwy 62 and hwy 100 in Edina. Feels like riding the wooden roller coaster, the American Eagle, in the Chicago burbs. The scenery is great too. Minneapolis does a great job of making trails...

The Minnehaha Creek Watershed District is a very well funded entity. The projects that they work on are quickly expedited and they have been quickly converting industrial uses over to parkland along the 20 miles of shore land adjecent to the creek and the watershed that stretches 178-square miles to...

More winter bike advice requested. My 18-year-old has kept biking the 4 mile route to school up to now. But the season is starting to feel. I mean cold. He’s still committed. He’s asking for better gloves and something for his eyes (goggles?). Anybody have top recommendations for where I can outfit...

I'm impressed that USI is able to set up such a large utility infrastructure throughout the city and undercut the competition on price in the process. Horizontal drilling materials, equipment, and labor is not inexpensive. My guess is that it's costing USI $1K for each customer brought online, payba...

Attended the Minneapolis 2040 community outreach meeting at MLK last night and sat in a couple of the round table presentations. I was expecting to see neighbors carrying pitch forks and torches chanting "Follow the Money" based upon chatter on nextdoor.com but things were pretty even keel...

Re: 36th and Bryant Area
Public comment to fill the empty lot pit filled with trash with residential housing units is due by midnight. I lived across the street at 3611 Bryant in 2013-2014 and the garbage/litter filled pit is a gross mosquito breeding ground. The current commercial building is also pretty ugly. This seems l...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
These non-contiguous bike lanes are frustrating as a biker and especially as someone who likes to bike with people who are more risk adverse on bikes. Time to step up your game Richfield and Minneapolis regarding the stretch between 60th St to 68th St. It's scary as heck to bike on this 4 lane inter...

Re: Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements
One thing I forgot to mention regarding the 54th and Penn pedestrian safety meeting is that several people in the community seemed interested in the installation of a mid-block pedestrian crossing similar to the one at 50th & France. That could be a good idea to bridge commercial districts with ...
