It's funny how people didn't want blocks long open rail cuts as permanent defining neighborhood features.
The goofy half baked Nicollet alignment will live forever in the hearts of people who wouldn't have had to fund, build or operate it.

Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018
He wouldn't be a good candidate. A bland big city dfler with an easily demagogued record would lose. If Emmer hadn't sought more lenient drunk driving punishment as a legislator or committed a horrible minimum wage gaff, he would have likely beaten Dayton in a more dfl friendly 2010 race. Dayton had...

Re: Future cars / Driverless cars
libertarian deregulation of a state's road network at the behest of said state's most prominent industry != technological break through. I hold fully autonomous personal vehicles will remain the dream of techno geeks throughout the land for the next several decades.

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
Development plans are far from certain even if the stadium is built. Someone with more knowledge of the long term planning process could tell us if it's possible to block big box development on the remaining portion of the rk midway properties. I do agree the moving parts are probably the bigger bar...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I'd guess the rainbow lease prohibits rk midway from selling or leasing their property to a grocery competitor. If rainbow agrees to relinquish their lease rights hyvee could conceivably set up a store along Pascal. The tenants in the same complex as rainbow closer to Pascal would receive a substant...

http://www.twincities.com/2016/12/08/groundbreaking-set-for-st-paul-soccer-stadium-as-construction-snags/ Supervalu wants the Rainbow open to shut hyvee out of the Midway. Allowing Rainbow out of its lease would trigger significant lease discounts for neighboring tenants who count on an anchor drivi...

Re: Minneapolis Mayoral Election 2017
Frey has a pretty good gig right now and would likely lose the mayoral race. I think he biding his time for a run in 2021. Keith Ellison has his congressional seat as long as he wants it. Frey would have a tough time winning a state wide Senate race against even a mediocre gop opponent. What is the ...

Who?
Seriously unless someone splits the south sw highly engaged budget minded dfler vote, I don't see anyone outside that mold becoming mayor anytime soon. With ranked choice splitting voting blocs is less of a thing than in winner take all single round voting.

Re: Presidential Election 2016
The call for an audit is based on Wisconsin counties with electronic voting shifting Republican from 2012 to 2016 while counties without electronic voting had results more similar to 2012. That's my understanding at least. The problem is that shift is entirely consistent with Minnesota's results and...

Re: Car Sharing / Rental (Car2Go, HourCar, etc.)
Silpohat's critique of the service is spot on. I live at the junction of three state highways and ended up using it as a way to get to and from downtown saint Paul and places just outside downtown Minneapolis. Short trips or in congested conditions are expensive. The 22% tax rate is outrageous. I'm ...

Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
I'd be pretty surprised if The MLS isn't livid at this development. They're notoriously financially conservative and having stadium revenue and local franchise investment yanked from under their feet can't leave them pleased.

Medicare privatization and converting Medicaid to a static block grant would be massive over reach. The party base would go absolutely ape and Republicans, especially Senate republicans, know that. Your brain must have exploded in 08 because you've forgotten the Tea Party movement. They came into being immediately after Obama's election. Trump has called for the use of state sanctioned force against Muslims and other minorities and now he's mad because people are criticising the future preside...
