Re: National Marrow Donor Program HQ - (524 Fifth Street Nor
I also would like to see more good lunch options on this side of town. It has become a good destination neighborhood for sit-down food but not for reasonably priced excellent lunch options. Although part of the problem I think is also a cultural mentality- I work in Boston and we'll walk in single ...

Re: 3rd/4th Viaduct + Development
Wouldn't you need a significant office presence nearby in order to make building that ramp worthwhile? The benefit of Ramp C is that it is built above the highway and still has easy, skyway-connected service to the CBD. Having a non-skyway-connected ramp that far out would certainly discourage cars,...

Re: The Eclipse
when I moved here (whittier and the wedge) after growing up in the suburbs and living in Phoenix for 3 years,I drove for about 90% of my trips. now after 5 years I drive about 10% of my trips. because I chose to walk and bike and transit, but I still have one car that sits in one parking space. I h...

I saw someone posted this on Facebook. I wondered if someone would bring it over here.Holy crap, I just got the pun on the drive home. Whoever branded this was either a genius or a moron.
Block E = MC Square.

Re: StoneBridge (2nd Street South & 11th Avenue South)
The tower looks great until you reach the base. The entrance is completely utilitarian and bland. Seems incongruent to the expensive prices they are charging above. Not sure Mr Stanton or the architects understand street level design in an urban context. Not evident in their latest proposal either ...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
Speaking of which, the Green Line isn't proposed to have quite as long of a span of service as the Blue Line. Is is supposed to run from 5am to 1am, so about an hour later start and possibly no Friday/Saturday 2am service. According to Metro Transit's Green Line starting date annoucement , the line...

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
It certainly seemed strange to me. Perhaps they just assumed the light rail portion would speed up the commute. It doesn't sound like they had an issue on the Red Line either, though.

Re: Public Transit News and Happenings
I think my 2 was actually ahead of schedule this morning, my driver was pretty crazy and I thought we were gonna crash a bunch of times, but we didn't. And yeah, every single winter storm tweet from Metro Transit has been basically "buses are all late, blue line and Northstar on time." Te...

Re: Star Tribune Blocks
I've never understood the negativity toward Gold Medal Park. Maybe it doesn't have '80s tribute bands scheduled every other day, but it's easily one of the most picturesque areas downtown. It's a huge reason why Mill City is what it is, in my opinion. I don't really understand it either. I love the...

Re: Duluth Business News
Duluth Trading Co. returning to its birthplace with downtown store This is a really nice gain for downtown Duluth. They might finally be getting a critical mass of retail back. I sure hope so. I grew up in Duluth and really am rooting for its success, but downtown still is has its challenges. Most ...

Re: North Loop Neighborhood
P.S. They should rename the restaurant "Poorhouse" (or even "Pourhouse", to be even more ironic), because that's how its customers will be living if they frequent the place (zing)! That might work if there wasn't already a Pourhouse . ;) Assuming you can get an entree and a beer...

Re: POLL: Fare free zone on campus or make the U-Pass mandat
I'm sort of curious how much a mandatory U-Pass would increase ridership. How many students have a U-Pass now? When I was going to the U a couple of years ago, I didn't know anyone who didn't have a U-Pass who lived anywhere near campus. I knew a handful who drove places, but they weren't the type t...

I don't foresee any time in the future when Surdyk's gives up their parking lot. It's always full. I could maybe see the back part of the lot (behind the camera store) going if the camera store developed, but between the layout of entrances and the loading docks, I doubt its in Surdyk's best interes...

Re: Target Field Station (The Interchange)
This seems more like a civic vanity project rather than something that will benefit a large number of people ... Nobody lives around here except for rich condo owners who are going to be driving anyway It seems to be a silly argument to say this is a bad project because rich people in condos will u...

Re: Northeast - General Topics
Counterpoint: Does anyone else feel like Northeast has an outsized reputation? Not overrated really, but I feel like people talk about it way more than they actually go to it. Northeast has been "the new Uptown" since like 2004. What's in Northeast? There are a number of not-terrible bars...

Slide 15 seems to show a small sign on the left side of the building that says "CAFE". I thought it was mentioned that there would be no retail?

In the summer of 2012, I worked in the Accenture Tower (or, ahem, 333 South Seventh Street) with windows facing the plant. Every once in a while it would make a huge sound and belch steam or something else (can't totally remember). Certainly not the most pleasant neighbor.

I was wondering the same, since when I first heard that, I was confused why a strip club was being discussed for historic designation.Just west of JD Hoyt's.... Would that be the giant pink one on Washington or the one with the wine bar on 3rd?

Re: Red 20 - (20 6th Street Northeast, former Totino's site)
Love that the other building is being renovated. I always loved old nord'east. For while there - was quite a hotbed of activity with new stores, etc. moving in. Hopefully will pick up again. There are still shops popping up every once in a while. Noodles took over part of Bibelot's space, the Paner...
