Re: Peavey Plaza reconstruction project
In most cities in Europe, I seem to recall these free public toilets on the sidewalk. It would spray down the inside between every use. Seems like that would be a better facility for relief than a fountain.

Re: MSP Airport
I'm still curious about the original early-90s vision for MSP expansion, with an access road connecting to the interchange of 77 and 62 (I remember as a kid seeing a drawing in the Strib that was really cool). Also, one thing that continues to fascinate me is the difference in design and use between...

Re: MSP Airport
Looks like they plan to slightly move the access road interchange (including removing the turnaround bridge built <15 years ago) ... I hope they use the opportunity to connect airport traffic to eastbound MN 5 on the righthand side instead of the left, as this would eliminate a lot of weaving. Here'...

Re: U.S. Highway 14
Drove past again... the old Hwy 14 is now Steele County 2, and it is still County 48 to the east of the interchange.

Re: Peavey Plaza reconstruction project
I don't know. We need to be pragmatic here. When 90% of the general public even hears about people peeing or doing whatever in a park, they will not go there. In a sense its not a judgment of the park's worth, but it's reality and we need to work within that framework.

Re: Location of a 2nd International Airport?
I seem to remember that, back in the late 90s after the dual track process was done and the state was all-in for MSP, there was discussion of a multi-modal cargo facility near Rosemount. Was probably just a pipe dream, sort of like U More. Maybe it's in the water down there... Anyways I can't imagin...

Re: Shakopee Rail?
The plan to rebuild the junction from MN&S to Wayzata Sub downtown-bound is actually going to happen and has been planned as part of the TC&W reroute off the Kenilworth corridor. Additionally, I think TC&W owns the MN River bridge since they figured they might want to connect to Port of ...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
Talk of an extension along Cedar Ave quickly died c. 2000 when the Cedar Ave Feasibility Study recommended BRT. The biggest factor here was probably the Cedar Ave Bridge... LRT would have required a new bridge, probably in between the existing bridges or to the side. BRT can run on the existing six...

Re: MSP Airport
IMO the most immediate need is the customs / border protection facilities. It's the only area at MSP that is so obviously inadequate. That's probably the biggest drawback of our two-terminal setup as well... CBP is spread out between two facilities. Delta at one facility, and SY/Iceland/any future ...

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
Yes actually after looking at my map, the streetcar corridors actually match nicely with shopping/neighborhood connection corridors... Nicollet (obviously), 9th or 10th, Washington Ave, and Chicago Ave. Woohoo!

Re: Convention Center Hotel - (330 South 12th Street)
One thing that would help is if we had concentrated walking/urban streets going east-west across downtown, and north-south from Elliot Park to the new stadium site. Not that other streets should be hostile to pedestrians, but we could do something like the Nicollet Mall with two vehicle lanes where ...

Re: Blue Line (Hiawatha)
I'm pretty sure you can go to Northtown in N.E. Mpls, or Hoffman/Pigs Eye in southeastern St. Paul, and you can see all the humping you'd want (out in the open) all day and night. I hear it gets rather noisy.

Re: Robert St Corridor
While I'd love to see LRT along Robert Street in some fantasy Twin Cities, I'd be happy to see the following in real life... Arterial BRT along the Robert Street corridor. Any future P&R/express bus service should be placed along Robert north of 494 (less than a mile from 52, where it can take t...
