Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)

Thank you for the video.
I drove past this project today, and the more the façade goes up, the more I really like it.

Re: 4Marq - (313' - 30 Stories)

Thanks for the pics Drag. I really like this project and can't wait to see the finished product. The mod look of it is so different from what we have seen lately, and I think it will add greatly to the area. Off topic, but how exactly does a crane lift itself ? I've tried to find info online and am ...

Re: Holiday Inn Express - 317 Second Avenue S

This is going to help round out our lodging options in Mpls. I love that this hotel is using an underutilized building, and will bring more traffic to that area. My hometown is development central right now. I love it !!! :D

Re: Portland Tower - 516 S. 8th St.

I agree that the color the selected in this new rendering makes this tower a little monotonous. It seems they were at two ends of the spectrum here. With the horizontal cladding they had something that seemed out of place but with the new gray material it seems a little boring. Overall, the new ren...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Weird that it's on Presidents' Day...isn't that a city holiday? How are they getting CPED staff to work? Anyways, if you want to go, you should definitely RSVP here: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/public-forum-first-look-at-the-nicollet-hotel-block-project-design-tickets-15669758670 I wouldn't be sur...

Yes, I mean the version that was torn down, with much glee by our city leaders at the time. I never felt unsafe there, ever.

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)

So far so good with this project IMO. The contrasting colors are nice, hopefully the two taller portions will have an ornate look when it's completed.

Re: Mayo Clinic Square

I miss the original Block E. It was a terrible, lazy decision to tear it down.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

I think Duval would be great on that empty half block between 9th and 10th on Marquette. Thoughts ? The tower would be. I'd actually prefer it there, to maintain the skylines' pyramid shape. I don't know that the project would work without a whole-block podium for offices and parking though. I'd li...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Most people are very disappointed because they got their hopes up that he could deliver the tallest building in Minneapolis. The IDS is still the tallest and it's over 40 years old which is ridiculous. People want progress, not the status quo. Another 30 story high rise... Yippie! I think Duval wou...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Yeah, but nobody's saying that the Duval wasn't the most ambitious proposal, or that we would prefer it not get built. But it takes more than just "wanting it" to finance a building, and Duval wasn't able to do that, or at the very least wasn't able to prove he could do that. End of story...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development

The Nicollet Hotel block will light a design fire under Ryan. They will have to have some great space and amenities to get people to move off Nicollet. Even with the Commons, there will have to be street activities and shops and restaurants for those people to go to which will help Ryan's project t...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block

Agreed. I think a good example in Minneapolis is US Bank Plaza (Pillsbury Center). It's a rather bland pair of towers, not a huge step up from 33 South Sixth in terms of tower design. And, with the exception of the two corner plazas, one facing city hall and the other facing Northstar, it's not rem...

Re: Jackson Building Hotel (Former IPR) - 300 Washington Ave

A beautiful building and a great preservation project. It makes it sad to think what could have been done with the Metropolitan Building.
