Re: Gateway Corridor

Not sure if there's any new information here, but enjoy nonetheless: Transit stations moved into Woodbury Washington County has a deep interest in potential economic development associated with Gateway Corridor because of the money-generating power of Woodbury, the county's largest city. Woodbury is...

Re: Northstar

http://erstarnews.com/2012/11/23/twins-pitching-affects-northstar-ridership/ It's too bad this website doesn't have a comments section. I'd love to hear what the folks in Elk River, Otsego, Rogers, and Zimmerman have to say  It's actually a better article than what the Strib puts out, with actu...

Re: Uptown hotel discussion

Seriously, Rosemount? http://www.startribune.com/local/south/180703991.html
How can these smallish exurban hotels turn a profit? This one's not even on the interstate.

Interesting question: does current zoning in Uptown even allow for a hotel?

Re: Green Line (Central)

Anyone know if the 19th Ave Bridge (West Bank Station) will be repainted? It would be a shame if it was not, because it looks terrible. It has dual iron-bar/chain-link fencing (the chain-link seemingly unnecessary) that has left the concrete portion rust-stained and hideous. The nearby Cedar Ave Bri...

Re: Planet Fitness to fill vacant Roseville Circuit City

I think my initial comment was misinterpreted. I wasn't questioning the continued success of Rosedale Center itself, but the relative success of the "hangers-on" to remain leased up, especially Har-Mar. Rosedale itself has a fantastic location on two busy highways, closer to both downtowns...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure

MNDaily Article on Bike Infrastructure Shortcomings I was disappointed that it didn't mention the area where the bike lanes abruptly end at a staircase on West Bank next to Willey Hall. F that forced dismount! Put in a ramp (and sell that surface lot to a developer while you're at it). Agree on all...

Re: Northstar

http://www.startribune.com/local/north/180934591.html Despite the failure of Northstar and the negative impression it gives to all public transit investments (especially "choo-choos"), it doesn't seem like this ill will could possibly get in the way of Southwest or Bottineau. I do think th...

World Street Kitchen opened today. If not for the abundance of leftovers in my fridge, I'd be eating there right now.

Republic is also open.

Re: Green Line (Central)

No. Most of the traction power substations still need to be installed

"The remaining 13 substations will be installed at a rate of one per month over the next year, council officials said. Each substation weighs about 80,000 pounds and costs about $1 million."

Certainly no small feat.

Re: Highway 7 / Louisiana Interchange Project (St. Louis Par

The fear of roundabouts is astonishing, especially in 2012. Do these people not get out of SLP? There are roundabouts EVERYWHERE now. They work. However, I'm glad I got to "practice" on some very low traffic, low speed roundabouts before encountering the larger variety involving the inters...

Re: Tall Buildings

The Minneapolis skyline is one of the most beautiful in the country. Clearly the demand for new office space downtown is low, and will remain low unless companies like United Health (and friggin Target now) stop building corporate campuses in the suburbs. This makes new 50-story high rises unlikely ...

Sub-topic: Reducing total retail space downtown What are some retail/restaurant spaces that could or should be converted to something else? I feel that no matter how high the downtown population climbs, there will always be a surplus of retail space in the core. This will be exacerbated as old peopl...
