Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations
how about going to the mall's 1960's intent. it currently sucks thanks to the early 90's renovation. take all motorized vehicles off the mall. there always gasps and fainting spells when this is brought up but tons of major cities have dedicated pedestrians streets/corridors right smack in their cen...

Re: Vikings Stadium
i find that hard to believe. back in the late 70's the warehouse district was just barely becoming an artists area. i've never read that claim before. they were afraid of a second downtown? umm ok. if that was the case the "planners" strategy was spot on. we got a cheap concete bunker and ...

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)
You're being sarcastic right? The city can't really do jack regarding design. They can work around the margins. A tree here, a decorative fence there. What is "good" and "bad" design is subjective. take a drive around town and compare all the recent development. Some of it sucks ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
most of the new NFL stadiums are pretty generic except for the retractable domes in arizona or dallas. seattle's stadium is nice.
mark wilf has mentioned they are studying the new miami marlins stadium. perhaps the retractable feature will slide off the roof and cantilever over this new plaza.

Re: Vikings Stadium
so on a call with season ticket holders today vikes owner mark wilf agreed the stadium should have an "authentic midwest feel." what does that mean anyway? a lincoln log stadium? also architects selected in "60-90 days". vikes also verified a view to the skyline from inside the s...

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
they are bookend multi-modal hubs. the great rail cities have multiple train stations. we have two cores that need to be served.

that's a good question. the plan shows the stadium jutting into 11th. maybe it would be built over the street.

Re: The Interchange (At Target Field)
maybe the county couldn't wait in order to receive the federal money. if u get a special appropriation like that if u snooze u lose. it would just go to another city.

Re: Trader Joes (Lyndale and 27th)
guess they're stuck with the wedge and their craptastic parking to go with inflated pricing. it's made the traffic at that intersection incredibly bad. seems for all our good intentions this is still a driving city. there has to be a better lot somewhere in south mpls for trader joes. they have nice...

oh god a skyway connection. what is this the 1970s? sorry but i hate them and it's not probably minneapolis fashionable to say that. we're trained to just love them and their convenience from cold weather. the majority if cold weather cities get by just fine without them and probably have a more liv...

Re: Lake & Nicollet
well it can be one of their best performing stores and still allow a major city street to flow freely. really this is such a huge thing and if the city can finally open nicollet that corridor will flourish from downtown all the way south. it was one of the biggest city planning mistakes of the 70's....
