Re: Southwest LRT (Green Line Extension)

Some construction updates based on what I've seen recently: -the foundations for the following stations can be seen: Golden Triangle, Opus, Shady Oak, and Hopkins -lot of electrical and utility lines can be seen where the EP Town Center and 21st Street stations will be -the new freight rail alignme...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I think nightlife also plays a pretty big role. Once we see the nightlife scene pick back up, the desire to live close to the action will return.

Re: Downtown Riverfront - Mill Ruins Park - Waterworks

Secondly: the stairs down to the lower trail from the foot of the Stone Arch bridge have been broken all summer and chained off, but there was no signage directing visitors to use the other set of stairs (closer to the A Mill) that are not blocked off. This MPRB complaint is valid all the time, not...

Re: IDS Center

I like the new look! The new reflecting pool adds some seating and I like the other seating as well.

Were they having issues with the fountain? I'm wondering if that prompted them to make the design change.
Its been a while since I worked downtown, but IIRC it was constantly being repaired

Re: Hennepin Avenue (Franklin to 36th)

How are they going to make the conversion from 8 lane highway at the Hennepin/Lyndale split?

Will they re-stripe to include a dedicated transit lane? The alignment as it stands seems like it would be a huge bottleneck for all modes.

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

3+ years later and this finally looks like it's wrapped up. In tandem with its completion northbound Lyndale gained a left turn lane and parking was removed from the west side. If that 6,200 sf corner retail space wasn't going to be hard enough to lease, I think the loss of parking there is going t...

Re: Hiawatha-Minnehaha Corridor Development & MinHi Line

Even has a table/window eating area looking at the LRT station for quick stops-and-goes. But I'd be money that after the first two grab-and-gos, that door gets locked up for security I know the Holiday in North Loop has a door like this. Does anyone know if its ever locked? IIRC its been open the c...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News

Not too surprising. I've been assuming that any restaurant that didn't even try to partially reopen for the summer isn't going to, especially HopCat, which had a decent sized patio already and a pretty obvious place to expand it if necessary. I think they should have done takeout at the very least,...

Re: U.S. Bank Stadium

Anyone know when the work is going to be done on this? At this point I'm thinking they better start putting it back together soon or they will be missing more than fans at their stadium. I should have taken a picture. They have several layers removed from the exterior and seem to be actually trying...

Since the Streets.mn main page update, I don't see a link to these forums. Is that by design? We're losing an opportunity for new members to contribute without a direct link.
Just realized there is a thread in "Anything Goes" please disregard above.

Re: Bottineau LRT (Blue Line Extension)

Here's a map of the alignment I think they should do. North of Robbinsdale it's very similar to the original but would take lanes away from Bottineau Boulevard instead of being on BNSF right-of-way. https://www.google.com/maps/d/edit?mid=1Uz1B8knd-nsxhsdJza183NY11_fTRoie&usp=sharing I like this...

Mapping the development boom in Chicago's West Loop: https://chicago.curbed.com/maps/west-loop-construction-development Holy moly! West Loop, particularly the "Fulton Market" area is undergoing a massive development boom. Right now, I'd describe the area to a Minneapolitan as North Loop x...

What should go into this space that's both desirable to the neighborhood, desirable to the city and economically realistic for developers? Not trying to snark for once, just curious. That's the million-dollar question. I think it will need to have a significant amount of affordable & workforce ...

A lot of respondents already have a monthly bus pass, and caffeine is always welcome. How about a choice of a free day pass, fee weekend pass, or $5 off a monthly pass? (It would be interesting to know what percentage of riders have monthly passes.) Or support local businesses. Much like local taxi...

Re: Lake & Nicollet Redevelopment (Kmart site)

https://twitter.com/awillis/status/1266756072771026953 I made this very joke to a group of friends. In response, I was blasted by one friend, who is a person of color, about how his family relied on this Kmart for affordable goods when he was growing up. The city will need to be very, very intentio...
