Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Expanding on the idea of removing the driving lanes on Girard and converting to a pedestrian walkway... This would be a very good place to put in an elevated crosswalk on Lagoon to calm traffic. I'd keep the light there so traffic stops on a regular basis to allow pedestrian flow.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
I wish they would get rid of the lane of parking on the north side of lagoon and make the sidewalk extra wide. Then, take out the entire section of Girard between Lake and Lagoon to make a more continuous pedestrian mall.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
Some thoughts on the Parella space and Uptown restaurants in general: http://www.eater.com/forums/minneapolis/2016/2/2/10899546/uptowns-restaurant-identity-crisis Beware: lots of parking barking What a load of whining. The vast majority of uptown's restaurants are locally owned. Yes, some may lamen...

I was thinking, why is Naf Naf all about being in the skyways? I have friends from Chicago that rave about it. I want to try it but never have the opportunity because I'm never DT during their operating times.

My guess is they're targeting Wells Fargo for some of those units where they'd house transferring high level executives on the relocation package. In that instance, you know Wells would negotiate those prices down.

Okay spilling the big secret. I work for Carlson. The other one that starts with a C. Founder of the company has a school named after him at the U of M.
Anyway, it will be fascinating seeing this thing once it's a finished product.

Re: Minneapolis Armory
Got it, sorry to jump on you. I disagree, though. As long as the exterior is stabilized, using it as a parking lot leaves open the possibility of a thoughtful adaptation which preserves its historic characteristics. It's hard to go back from major additions or changes, though. True that. Think old ...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Restaurant News
I'd love it if we could have an old fashioned eggs and hash browns kinda place downtown. You know, the kind that opens at 5am and closes at 2 with a big flat iron griddle.

I don't understand the obsession some people have with BWW. Essentially any other sports bar has better wings than they do. The only special thing they have is the variety of sauces.

Wonder what they're going to do to with those rooms that look straight into a cement wall? I thought I saw a rendering with some ivy or some form of greenery. Regardless, gonna pretty gloomy in those rooms because They'll get 0 sunlight.

I'd assume it's narrower than your typical hotel because the rooms will only be on one side of the corridor.

It would be pretty cool if the Timberwolves played a preseason game vs the Lakers there. Likely will have to file this in the "things that should happen but don't happen for no particular reason" folder.

Re: Uptown Retail & Restaurant News
My bet is Uptown Tavern. Louie's at least can say it has decent food. Tavern's food is one step up from the cafeteria at the jail downtown. To me, it seems the only think keeping the place afloat is weekend evenings and game day's. Cowboy Slim's is eating its lunch in that category. Maybe we should ...
