Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
I much preferred the one from the Twins build. I spent so much time on that I think I wore the thing out.

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
To say that Wells Fargo isn't based here in MN is technically correct. But Norwest was the aggressor in the merger years back. they actually sought out Wells Fargo for the Mortgage naming rights out west (and then did the same with wachovia for out east) Wells has a major presence here in MN and own...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
The ribbon building would have looked out of place in a few short years the same as the dome did. Additionally it was a concept drawing which may or may not have even been possible to build the way it was drawn up. Also, the materials and the lines of that drawing had nothing to tie into the existin...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I was critical of Wilf that he wouldn't do this but I was obviously way premature to make those statements. I'm very happy to see this happen!

Re: Vikings Stadium
Arguing about somthing that isn't goiing to change seems pointless. The thing is getting built no matter what. It always was getting built no matter what. Bemoaning that is pointless where discussion should be centered around what is going to happen with this stadium. Now even I a stadium supporter ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Having a town with 4 major sports teams Let me see, there's the Lynx, the Gophers women's hockey team, the Gophers men's hockey team, but I can't think of our fourth major sports team. Wait, did the Twins make it to a playoff of some sort this decade? Ok it's true that our sports are bad bad ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
It seems that almost every single region that loses a pro sports franchise fights like hell a few years later to try and get one back. Why do you think this is? There is a reason for it. Like it or not it's because it makes a city or region relevent in some circles. You can't just look to the easily...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Having a town with 4 major sports teams undoubtedly makes the area more attractive. That is having a town with a vibrant and diverse entertainment an social fabric makes the area appealing to more people. Having an area that is apealing to people means population retention and grwoth. Having a town ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
The Vikings have just been named as one of the top 5 most trusted teams in the NFL. And while I think they could improve in some ways I dont' think I would label them as inept or clueless. How do you build something that interacts with HCMC and the other surrounding buildings all of which are nondes...

Re: Vikings Stadium
The Twins stadium is a completely different animal. It had zero state dollars involved so it has an entirely different political face.

Re: Vikings Stadium
The point is even the RENDERINGS look horrible. Sure every project starts with a rough sketch, but then some actual work is done to design the building. It looks like no thought was put into this, just a few random angles and giant blank walls. No attention to detail. Just a gimmicky giant bunker w...

Re: Vikings Stadium
As I said a Viking fansite that I help work on conducted an interview with Lester Bagley regarding the stadium. Here is teh link to that 3 part interview. It is pretty long but informative. I realize that not everyone is a fan of the team or even the project, but please respect the board and it's us...

Re: Vikings Stadium
I'm trying not to but I really hate this roof. I guess too expensive to do all ETFE? In homes, north facing rooms get more sun and keep rooms warmer. I would imagine they want to block that out so it doesn't get too hot and act like a $1bil greenhouse Say what? North facing rooms get the least sun ...

Re: Vikings Stadium
Because it didn't also have a huge stadium sitting there which surface lots could be used for gameday parking for a venue that was being used year round? IF DTE had zoning that didn't make the ability to sit on surface lots so apealing then perhaps we would have seen more development?

Re: 1333 University Ave
I just drove University from downtown St. Paul to Franklin today. West of Raymond for the most part is pretty dreary. Hopefully many more projects like this start filling in.
Do you mean east of raymond? Because west of raymond is fairly lively through westgate and then you are in stadium village.

Re: Selby and Snelling
Connect Ayd Mill to 94 and do Ayd Mill right and you will have the traffic calming on snelling. Of course that would be a very large project and the nimbyism that borders Ayd Mill will never allow it.
