Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
I think the exterior of the mall is a huge detriment to the building. There couldn't be less charm or excitement for an out-of-town visitor driving up 494 and arriving at this uninviting fortress. They also feel the same and address that with the new addition to some degree. http://bloomingtonmn.go...

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)
How is the Hiawatha line maintained for snow? Besides having built in sanders and frequent schedules (continuing through the night during heavy overnight snows), the trains also have plows built into the front & back of the train, to push aside any higher snow that does build up. Many stations ...

Re: Stadium Parking Ramp Air Rights Development
Does this mean the apartment will be 27 stories tall and the hotel, built underneath the apartment, will be an 'X' amount of floors making the building MORE than 27 stories or does it mean the hotel and apartment will be a TOTAL of 27 stories? I was confused by that as well. However, I think the fa...

Re: Opus Ritz Block Development
Really? We will see just how interested all the high profile developers are when the city issues a request for proposals (RFP)for the Nicollet site, which is one of the most important blocks in the city. Last time I checked the best proposal was a park, which would be a complete waste. Furthermore,...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
Everyone likes nice things when they aren't looking at the dollars. The reality is the dome was paid off, and nobody was asking for a new stadium other than the Vikes. I'm excited for new buildings too, I'm just not excited to pay for them. If memory serves me correctly - I believe the Twins hated ...

Re: Interstate 35W
It is pretty disgusting how badly Interstate 35W (not to mention 94) harms Minneapolis neighborhoods. And they want to expand it. Welcome to America... I can't think of any major freeway near an urban core that didn't bisect communities. Love them or hate them though, until the masses are not addic...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
Compromise  : Minneapolis consents to LRT and freight through Kenilworth together *with* the bike trails and no g.d. tunnel to save a boatload of money. If this means half the town homes in the pinch point have to go, that's a bummer. And a big one. However, in exchange for "taking"...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
It doesn't seem realistic that you would build the 3 story retail base of the building and not complete the structure above; however, if you are to read the quotes it seems that they won't start the office portion until there are leases. I'm assuming they are hoping to sign some leases in the near ...

Re: Mall of America - Bloomington
Is this a spec office building or do they have a tenant lined up? The report is vague, but I did find this: Construction Operations Plan The Construction Operations Plan for the previously approved MOA Phase IC indicated a 24-month construction period (November 2013 to November 2015). It is now ant...

MOA office building: http://bloomingtonmn.gov/pccases/08235A14.pdf Neat. Makes it all the more frustrating that moving the LRT stop here wasn't considered. Seriously... the LRT platform moving is a horse that needs to be put to rest. It's not going to happen. We cannot even get dedicated funding fo...

Re: Mayo Clinic Square (formerly Block E)
The Business Journal did a better job reporting, IMO. http://www.bizjournals.com/twincities/news/2014/02/04/timberwolves-mayo-block-e.html The Star Tribune says it's only a 20,000 sq. ft. clinic, however, the Business Journal says 85,000. That's quite a big difference. ..."The project includes ...

I agree with nearly everything David says. He certainly knows his stuff and has facts to back him up. Others do for their points of view too, but usually not to the depth of his. Just my 2 cents.

Letter to the editor about this in today's Star Tribune:

If space is needed, it could be rented nearby for a sliver of the cost of a new building.

Hiawatha is unquestionably a success for riders, tho. The VA built a massive ramp- I'd guess mostly- but at least in part for commuters using their lot as a Park n Ride. Help me understand this comment, please? To the best of my knowledge, the new ramp is being built on a section of the lot that is...

Dirt hauling is happening between 6pm and 6am. · Eighty (80) trucks are currently hauling dirt from 6:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. every night from the site. The majority of the trucks are independently-owned and operated by Minnesotans, primarily women and minorities. http://www.vikings.com/news/article-1/...
