Re: Minneapolis Street Design
Minneapolis hasn't had a traffic enforcement division since pre covid/GF. And with MPD's depleted numbers I doubt traffic enforcement is high on their to do list. If smaller firetrucks, raised crosswalks and narrower streets can slow traffic and save lives why not do it? I'm not sure if MFD is advoc...

Re: St. Louis Park - General Topics
Just spitballing ideas, but the 600 Metropoint building (20-story tower) would seem, unlike most office buildings, to be a decent candidate for residential conversion. Using the measurement tool on the Hennepin County property map, it looks like the building is just 80' wide. So maybe? http://metro...

Re: Suburbs - General Topics
The excursion train thread reminded me that at one point the Renaissance Festival was supposed to be relocating, due to their lease with the quarry around them ending. A little googling found their new proposed location outside of Jordan, but then radio silence. Did I miss that they were able to so...

Re: Minneapolis Street Design
If Minneapolis wants to create safer streets maybe they could start by using smaller fire trucks. Narrowing roads will be hard to do when trucks like these need to use them. https://media.kare11.com/assets/KARE/images/14fc6406-3654-4c1f-b5ec-8c1fb8b0709b/14fc6406-3654-4c1f-b5ec-8c1fb8b0709b_1920x10...

Just imagine how much bike infrastructure could have been built with the money used on that tunnel.

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
But seriously, is there no plan to make a direct trail connection here? It's all county owned and would be a great connection for residents and park users. https://i.imgur.com/h7KhacC.png https://i.imgur.com/TPeNunO.png Isn't that ridge kinda steep? I don't think stairs would be ADA compliant and a...

Re: Green Line Extension - Southwest LRT
We are back to nitpicking green line stations? Don't forget City West Station. With over half it's walkshed blocked by freeways and a significant area taken up by ponds doesn't leave much room for TOD. I wouldn't expect many office workers from Optum to use it when they have a pair of 5 story parkin...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Obviously, the frequency should be better. But 1 mile distance between East-West routes is sufficient. And there really aren't any arterials that go east/west for a long distance. 46th to 66th is 2.5 miles without an east west route. Route 46 is somewhat long maybe extend it to the Hopkins lrt stat...

Re: North Loop Green - Hines - 350 N 5th St(?) - 35 stories - 393'/418'
A raised crosswalk is essentially an extra wide speed bump. People are going to cross here with or without a crosswalk unless they put up a fence (even then people will cross). I guess I'm having a hard time understanding how a traffic calming measure would make people less safe or interfere with th...

Re: Public Transit News / Current Events (MN only)
Metro Transit really should do something with the east/west routes. The 4.5 miles between Lake and 66th has just routes 23 and 46 and on the weekends only the 23 hourly. Obviously, the frequency should be better. But 1 mile distance between East-West routes is sufficient. And there really aren't an...

Re: Bicycle Infrastructure
I didn’t see the same issue for Saint Paul. There could still be data issues there though. I’m sure it’s impossible to validate their scores for every city though, it’s only going to be as accurate as the data in OpenStreetMap Shouldn't the city or meet Minneapolis have someone who could work with ...

Minneapolis ranked #123 best biking city (#21 for large cities) in people for bikes city rankings. https://cityratings.peopleforbikes.org/cities/minneapolis-mn St Paul did a bit better #83 (#15 for large cites).
