Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I'm a little surprised by the fact that most of you are in favor of having the proposed streetcar cut through the middle of the block. While it does add a unique feature for the developers to tackle, it also makes the project less pedestrian friendly since 15-20% of the block cannot be used by anyth...

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
The idea of the Duval proposal may seem outlandish, but if you think of all the different components that they have proposed, it's really just three medium developments wrapped up into one. We have not seen the square footage for the proposed office portion of the project, but it can't be more than ...

Re: Minnesota Multi Purpose Stadium
On my drive in to downtown this morning, I noticed that they have started putting up exterior paneling on the east side of the stadium. You can see it on the right side if you're coming in on the 5th street exit from 94.

Re: Nicollet Hotel Block
I am sure that this is probably a dumb question - but I am going to ask it anyways... Is the idea that the city owns this land and is going to finance this potential development? Or are they going to sell the land or offer it as an incentive to a potential developer? Or - is the land and foundation...

Re: Permit Parking
I don't get that all the fuss is about. We're probably the only country in the world that would complain about parking. All the cities in Europe have massive parking problems since most of them don't have off-street parking. If you live in the city, the expectation is that you'll have to park 2-3 bl...

Re: Holidazzle Market
I've heard great thing about the holiday market from a few people who have gone. The wife and I are planning to take our kids the week of Christmas, so we'll report back then and share any pictures we take while there. This isn't directed specifically at the holiday market, but I wish Minneapolis wo...

215 University Ave
While driving home yesterday, I noticed that the old car dealership building on the corner of University Ave and Marion St. I'm not aware of any development plans for this lot, but it sure would be nice to get a nice residential building on this side of university. https://www.google.com/maps/@44.95...

having worked for 3M for a few years, I can say that a lot of the buildings in downtown already have 3M films applied to them. They have dozens of different product which offer unique features. http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_US/Window_Film/Solutions/Markets-Products/Commercial/Sun_Control_...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
I think it depends on how you are counting floors. The residential portion that will wrap the building will have shorter floors which won't match those of the office tower. You can see from that latest picture here in the thread that floors one and two of the office tower are extremely tall, but tha...

Re: Former Sperry Rand/US Bank site
to my knowledge, there is no river view from anywhere in this neighborhood. I do a lot of my long runs along shepard road and you can't even see the river from there, let alone 2-3 blocks north. All you see are trees. I like the idea that there are going to be multiple building built over time, but ...

Re: Farmers Market Soccer Stadium
It all comes down to money. MLS wants a successful team and the group with the most money will probably have the best chance of succeeding . I'm in favor of a soccer specific stadium as long as there's no public money involved and thin the MN United group should get the selection. But I can see how ...

Re: Latitude 45 - (301 Washington Avenue South)
It's nice to know that they managed to pre-lease the the retail space nearly 9 months before the building will be completed. I'm sure the spa is banking on pulling in weekend customers from the Depot across the street. There are plenty of weddings there throughout the year and the hotel doesn't have...

Re: Capella Tower - 225 South 6th St
Technically, anything inside a building is private space. I think we're using the term "public space" here because there is no barrier to entry besides walking into the building. There are no restrictions or signs that say "restricted access." One example of such a space is the t...

If we're using Latitude 45 as a comparison - first rumors started in late June of 2013 with construction kickoff in March 2014.

Re: Brunsfield Place - (915 Washington Avenue North)
That picture looks nice. A little photoshop tweaking and it would look like a rendering. I'm not surprised that the store fronts are still empty. I think the best option to fill most of the space is for a restaurant to move in. I'd love to see a boutique furniture store or something similar as well....

Re: Alatus St. Anthony Tower (Washburn-McReavy Site)
Let's give this a bit more time before we complain about the developers dragging their feet. It's been only 4 months since we first heard about the project. If they do choose to go with a condo building, you'll need to be ready to wait quite a bit before the project break ground. For those who don't...

Re: United Properties Target Field Station Development
I think may of use forget that a lot of office space in a building like this is taken up by small businesses. I'd say that at least 25% of the office space in downtown is occupied by small businesses. you don't have to see items in a storefront to be a small business. Let's be honest. We wouldn't be...

Re: United Properties Target Field Station Development
I think we've always know better. All we're really talking about is the perception of what the building is offering. Does it change your walking experience if you walk up a street next to a wall tinted glass with people working on the other side or if that same wall is bare with cars on the other si...

Re: Mississippi Market - 740 East 7th Street
That's a lot better than I was expecting, but I guess I was hoping for at least one small storefront on the 7th street side since there is already a lot of retail on 7th street. It'll be odd having such a large building that has nothing to offer to the surrounding community.

Re: United Properties Target Field Station Development
I don't get what everyone is complaining about. No building can be pedestrian friendly on all sides unless it is completely wrapped with retail. The US Bank Plaza, Capella Tower, Wells Fargo and even the infallible IDS all have blank, uninviting walls. Why should we hold this building in the middle ...
