Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

RE: Deluxe- I'm not convinced any of this is good for Minneapolis. A company headquartered here, selling its corporate campus, moving 550+ employees to a leased location; meanwhile in the same week announcing the addition of 700 employees in Atlanta metro where they already have 200 employees. http...

Re: 1301 W Lake St - LOCAL Ventures - 14 stories / 160'

Is it possible to alter the height/design of the structure and still preserve 400 units (which I believe would mean 40 units at 60% AMI)? It would be a shame to nix something like this at a site next to two future aBRT lines that cover all four cardinal directions and an existing 98 walkscore and 98...

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Seems like Sandy Springs/Georgia probably gave them a pile of tax breaks to land that facility, for what it's worth.
This could be the case, but Deluxe views itself more as a fintech company, and that industry is certainly Atlanta-centric so they'd need a big presence there regardless.

Thought those on this thread would be interested in page 6 of this (undated, but believe it is largely taken from ~2009-2011 as it mirrors the original early Obama administration plans for HSR) report from the NY-area Regional Planning Association that scored the top 50 city pairs for high-speed rai...

Re: Orange Line / 35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown Project

Maybe I'm only speaking for myself, but this really slipped through my radar. This thing is huge, and it's on it's own span over Lake Street, not sharing a span with either NB or SB traffic. The visibility of this station will be immense, and the quality of the transit service, with multiple bus ro...

Re: Lake and Fremont - 15 stories

Well! (How did 2040 rezone this?) Transit 10 (description below). I've been wondering if C. Square and Hennepin/Lake were destined for significant redevelopment from retail to primarily residential, really hard even for the suburban malls to be retail only but maybe retail has a better chance if it...

I wouldn't be surprised is ASM Global goes under. Managing a lot of empty stadiums right now.
Don't hold your breath, but I'd definitely welcome Anschutz (and his despicable political agenda) falling on tough times.

Re: Minneapolis Bus Garage - North Loop

Nicollet Garage is one I'd like to see get relocated/redeveloped someday, or perhaps the garage aspect of it built underground with other stuff above. There's definitely an opportunity for better land use in that immediate area with Metro Transit, MPD, and USPS all operating large tax-exempt govern...

Apparently The St. Louis Cardinals have no issues with a big glass tower in the batters eye straight out in center field. I feel like this would be worse for the players. Horrible excuse by the Pohlads. This thing will get built. http://skyscraperpage.com/forum/showthread.php?t=226198&page=3 Lo...

So the Twins have had a front-row seat for the growth of the area surrounding the stadium for the last 15 years and thought this property would sit vacant forever?

In "University continues to gobble up the East Bank because, hey, why not?" news, the owner of the five-building Classic City Apartments complex at Huron and Essex has been marketing it nationally for sale, and the U, concerned that it's zoned Transit 30 and thus might get a significant d...

The proposed Project, which is approximately twice the height of the Ballpark and nearly twice the height allowed by the Warehouse District’s design guidelines, is not only...

Highly recommend the public comments in this one. There are a handful of useful comments about making space for dogs and loading (which the developer has responded to) and a lack of retail space (which is not addressed and actually is a big issue for this area, it needs to be included on the corner...

Wilderness Inquiry, a great non-profit organization, is headquartered in the one-story buildings on the west side of the site. Is there any word on what will happen to them?
It looks like they were the main seller so at a minimum, they have a nice cash infusion here.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

So I'm a big fan of trying to increase density over a larger area as opposed to building tall buildings for the sake of tall buildings, and honestly I was preparing to respond here that people shouldn't hate on 8-story medium density housing. Then I looked at the proposal and was reminded of this s...

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

What was the point of the support for the 2040 plan if this relatively low intensity is allowed? By not meeting the city's 10 story guidance for Core 50, this is shortchanging at least 64 units (78 total bedrooms) at a site with a 94 walk score, 95 transit score, and 91 bike score.

Re: Downtown Minneapolis Office Market

Downtown St Paul would be a compromise between Downtown Minneapolis and Fergus Falls. It still has freeway connections and transit and a downtown ambiance with the added value of less traffic and chaos. I took the 94 between the two downtowns this week and their very different, but Downtown St Paul...

Whenever the discussion goes to ground floor retail this far from the core of downtown, I always wonder what kind of commercial uses people are imagining would even be attracted to such spaces. Undoubtedly the Elliot Park area could use a decent grocery store and some small service oriented operati...
