Re: Empire Builder

Unfortunately - the EP goes thru the prime mountain areas of Montana/Idaho/Washington(great town of Levenworth) at night on both the east/west bound timetables.

Re: Sears

I remember at one time it was casually tossed out as a stadium site. Got a Ted Williams AMF bike there way back when.

Re: 1890 University Ave (former Porky's site)

Two blocks west( Prior and Uni) Habitat for Humanity will break ground on its new Twin Cities HQ. 4 stories. Buildings have been vacant for sometime now. Poluted soil and asbestos have to be removed. Info from the current 'Villager'. Area between Prior and Fairview(Iris Park) could see a few more of...

Re: The Penfield

Still not sold on saving the facade but too late now. Quite a few new buildings in your photo that have sprung up in the last 10-15 yrs. State office buildings and Regions. Light rail can be seen also. Gas station location just screams for a developement. Wouldn't be surprised if something is propos...

The property accross the street(200 West 7th) is on the market - 10 million - good luck with that price.

Re: The Penfield

Great - this was starting to become an eyesore as it stood mostly vacant. What kind of construction timeline are we looking at given all the false starts with this project? Also the block accross the street(Robert) could be ripe for something if this project is a success.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

During the Mayor Coleman years there was a proposal to have gondolas(skyride) from the Science Museum to Harriet Island. REALLY!! The skytower may have been tied in with that. I'll try to locate the article in the PP archives.

Re: Minneapolis & St. Paul Fantasies and Speculations

Larry Millet's book 'Lost Twin Cities' has a section unbuilt Twin Cities with a rendering of the tower you mention. It would have been near the river center parking ramp.

Re: Pioneer Endicott Building

Glad to see progress on the Pioneer and Endicott along with the arcade. Cass Gilbert designed the Endicott. Great glass work in the arcade. Should be a good fit for MMAA. The conversion of some of these great buildings of commerce to apartments continues to take class B and C office space off the ma...

Re: Cossetta's Alimentari

Greetings, I believe the current building was to be renovated also if I recall. This should look great at night with the large windows. Name of the new resturant has been revealed. http://www.twincities.com/life/ci_20847891/restaurant-news-dave-cossetta-christens-fine-dining-restaurant Same name as ...
