Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I've written enough already about this project so that people know my views. I think this LPA choice was pretty inevitable. I think that it's at least okay that this project is mostly dedicated ROW. But as I said above, I think that the part that is mixed is exactly the one part which most needs ded...

Re: St. Anthony Village
If the facts are as they have been reported, this is a disgrace, and I hope the developer has enough documentation and legal grounds to sue the town. "Density concerns" is an embarrassing phrase. That the word "density" can be considered a "concern" on its own, with no ...

Re: C Line - Arterial Rapid Bus & Penn Ave Community Works Project
Metro Transit has confirmed that funding is in place with construction in 2018, service in 2019. https://www.metrotransit.org/funding-in-place-for-regions-second-rapid-bus-line- Best news I've heard today so far! The #19 bus is MSP's eighth busiest bus , with somewhere north of 6,000 weekday riders...

This development is tremendously exciting. The quality of the vision matches the importance of the location.

Re: RISE at Prospect Park - 2929 University Ave SE
This project is *pretty good*, and so I don't think it's worth getting too bent out of shape over some of this. The height is at a near perfect ratio given the street width. The grocery store will put windows and seating out on University. The main building entrance will be at the corner. The garage...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
At least part of the way is dedicated ROW. But the part of the route that most needs dedicated ROW is also the smaller part that is shared. I accept that this is a battle we're not likely to win in the near term, but I think it's important (as others have mentioned) that this route be built in such ...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
IMG_6342.PNG This is the LPA, right? Modern streetcar on 7th/ hwy 5. Not entirely sure if the route needs so many stops on the western end. Feels as if you could remove stops at Homer, Maynard or Davern, and possibly Historic Fort Snelling (does it need two stops?). I understand the costs for a str...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
Build the Riverview corridor as is, with a straight shot to the airport. Build the Midtown LRT Phase 1 from West Lake (Green) to Lake St. (Blue). Build the Midtown LRT Phase 2 from 46th Street to Sibley Plaza, so that Midtown ultimately runs from Hopkins to downtown Saint Paul. Problem solved. I'll...

Re: Riverview Corridor (Alternatives Analysis)
I know I've written plenty about this, but it still blows my mind that even at the STUDY phase, we can't muster the political will to take even a single lane of traffic away from cars on West 7th. Could that parking not be moved into a ramp somewhere? It's absolutely wild. Car travel and car storag...

Re: Denver
From an east coast eye, better than the towers going up at Hudson Yards, but not as good as One Vanderbilt, 9 DeKalb, or Foster's new Comcast tower in Philadelphia. See the links in that article though. The double tower from the same developer is extremely bad. Looks like it should be in Brickell, M...

Re: Sons of Norway block redevelopment - 1455 Lake St W
Love the scale. Love 326 units. Not a huge fan of 327 parking stalls, but that does come to less than 1/unit because some portion of those spots are intended for SoN employees. The turret though, was this designed by Michael Graves' ghost? Looks like they were inspired by the Kjeungskjær Lighthouse ...

Those are basically all the sites you'd guess. Ranked: 1. Mpls Farmer’s Market 2. Towerside 3. Midway 4. Downtown Saint Paul 5. Bassett Creek Valley 6. Ford Site 7. Upper Harbor Terminal I'm curious about this ranking. What's your criteria? Towerside would require a lot of relocations/demo, Midway ...

Re: United Properties / Four Seasons "Gateway" Project (Nicollet Hotel Block)
If this project, the Alatus tower and the Downtown East ramp tower get built I'll be happy with the results of the current boom. I'd take a development on the West Hotel lot over the Downtown East ramp tower, personally It has long mystified me why there hasn't been any development proposals for th...

Re: Thrivent's Surface Parking Lots
That parking ramp half-block development is unfortunate, but at least it improved from the first presentation to the second. Parking ramps wrapped with apartments are at least better than surface lots of parking lots unwrapped. But perhaps there is now an option for the public to have input on the d...

Re: Midtown Greenway
There's probably no project in MSP that I'm more interested in going forward than this one. Protected bike lanes are great, but what has long set Minneapolis apart from other bicycle cities is its network of trails; essentially bicycle highways. A route running from Uptown to downtown Saint Paul wou...

Re: Expo 2023
If they want a temporary fairgrounds where nothing permanent and urban will be built, then Bloomington is a great choice. But that does sort of shatter my pipe dream that they'd try something interesting and build an urban fair campus. Still hope they'd use the opportunity to strengthen the fabric o...
