Re: RE: Re: Minnesota Governor Election 2018

Then ignored us when those of us speaking to her pointed out that the only way to get ranked choice voting is to stop spoiling elections for the party that is open to it. It seems like a party should be able to implement whatever voting system it wants for its own primaries, but maybe there is some...

Re: Louisiana Station Area

I wish it were some other company than Amazon. Their work environment is somewhat less than acceptable. That said, it would be nice to see another entry-mid level employer along SWLRT.

Re: Hopkins - General Topics

Maybe it's because I grew up in town and went to school on Mainstreet, but I've long thought Hopkins was due for a renaissance. Too many great buildings and shops for it not to come back. The '80's were lean years, though. I still remember how sad I was when the original Hopkins theater was replaced...

I strongly dislike the practice of putting modifiers both before and after the name...that's just awkward. #streetnamefirst

Yes, it seems like a real mental health crisis. It's sad, because people in that situation literally are not themselves. His wife's comments indicate he got to some kind of breaking point. People don't just start a pattern of destructive behavior for no reason. Sent from my Nexus 5X using Tapatalk

Re: D Line - Chicago-Fremont/Emerson Rapid Bus

There a logic to it, though. If the city and county backfill transit, that's one less reason the legislature has to fund it. It's not like the cities and counties are going to get more state aid. Remember that way back when CTIB was just a bill, the original ask was for a half cent regional sales ta...

[*] An extension of the Downtown tunnel North across the River (probably by bridge? It was surprisingly difficult to find data on the riverbed and any prior attempts at tunneling) and a short distance into Northeast.

Re: Uptown General Topics & Development Map

I totally understand the argument to tax land and not buildings but couldn't that result in mediocre building in prime spots? For example Ackerberg decides to just throw up the ugliest, cheapest 5 over 1 we've seen just to make the land profitable and not taking such a bath on the taxes? Since impr...

lol at "ideation" in the article. Our director at work used that buzzword the other day and we're all like, "What the hell does that even mean?"

Re: RE: Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

I would think not allowing people to exit to Hennepin/Lyndale from that merge would be smart as well, but I haven't read anything that says they'll do that. The new 28th Street exit should help with allowing more ways to get to the Wedge neighborhood, instead of needing to go 35W to Hennepin/Lyndal...

I suspect many fewer people walk along that str...

Well... Dayton signed it. It’s law.

Now that it is law, how can the Met Council work with it?
They could sue on constitutional grounds.

The other question we need to ask ourselves how much race plays into this. By no means am I accusing any business or of being racist, but it something to be thought about.
Race is at the very center of this. And of a lot of opposition to transit.
