Re: Downtown Minneapolis General Topics & Development Map

Heard that the National MS Society is moving out of their building soon over by Gold Medal Park because "it's going to be torn down and turned into more apartments." That's really all I know, but it's a nice location, so hopefully something cool goes in.

Good to see some positive changes. If they could switch up the sea of white siding a little, I think I'll end up liking this one a lot.

Re: Thrivent Headquarters Block - 6th St and Portland Ave

The buildings are both fine and I look forward to seeing them built, but that driveway in the middle is HUGE. You could fit a whole 4th building in there! Seems like a crazy waste of space. Do they really need it to cut all the way through the block?

Re: Minneapolis Armory

Has anyone seen plans for landscaping? I hope they are just waiting for winter to be over and not just leave it as is.
For those who haven't been by recently, the current landscaping is an ocean of wood chips. It looks really bad and I hope it isn't their long-term plan.

In preparation to add 1,250 employees to their Home Mortgage campus, Wells Fargo is proposing to significantly expand their parking structure.

Planning Commission PDF here.
Wells Fargo's not really wasting much time. This looks like they've started going at it with gusto.

Pretty sure this is well under way. Seems quite big. I counted four(?) cranes for this one.

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics

With all the excitement of the grocery store opening today I should mention that plans for a 2nd grocery store on Malcolm just north of the transit-way continue to move forward. The most recent plans I have seen show a 2 level grocery store/restaurant at the base of a 12 story apartment tower with ...

Re: Prospect Park - General Topics

I am all about this project. Apartments, condos, small retail, offices, historic rehab, a building with CURVES(!!!). I like it a lot. I expect they'll get some pushback about it taking away from the Witches Hat, but Prospect Park has been pretty open to development along University, so I hope this c...

Re: Market Bar-B-Que Apartment project - 1400 Nicollet

I like the LaSalle side as well, and the orange siding is totally fine by me, but the huge expanses of white panels are pretty disappointing. However, I like that the retail spaces look to be smaller. I hope they fill in quickly and we don't have a case of a landlord holding out for 3 years for the ...

Something fairly large looking going up on the SE corner of 394 and Hopkins Crossroad. I don't recall hearing much about this. Apartments? Syngenta expansion?

Re: North Loop Neighborhood

The parking garage on 10th ave is really going up quickly. I wouldn't be surprised if it's open by late spring or early summer. Turns out, when a building is mostly just pre-cast cement or whatever, it doesn't actually take very long to assemble...

Re: The Link at Prospect Park - 2929 University Ave SE

Also the low rise portion that opened a few months ago is apparently not leasing well, like 12 units leased so far. Let's hope that picks up when it's finished. I think some of these projects that are near-ish to the U might have problems like this for a while. With the projects over here, even tho...

The siding on this is a little odd looking close up, but from a distance it looks really cool. Seems to shimmer, sort of - a lot like the wind wall at Target Field.

I haven't figured out how I feel about the tower yet. Some of the balconies look a little...precarious? Diving board-y? I like the mid-rise portion a lot, however. It looks like some real high-quality stuff.
