Re: Twin Cities Future Transit Map

Love the map! What a great project.

The North/South portion of 494 is labeled 394.

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

Oh, the irony! My appeal for exporting higher discourse kicks off ad hominem tit-for-tat right here on these pages. Apologies to the thread purists; focus has never been my strong suit. So, back to the topic at hand...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

The benefit is all the $ and time they put into rehabbing it. Hopefully it's attractive to someone soon!

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

Well I suppose if you're the type who likes to write all caps screeds about choo-choo's on newspaper websites you could be insulted by my comment. But I know better than to broadly paint suburbanites with that brush. My point was simply to encourage those on this site to offer their informed opinion...

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

Yep, now I'm angry at humanity again. What blows my mind is that people hang out on the comment sections enough that they recognize each other like we do on this forum. I completely understand how reading Strib comments can cause a thinking person to lose faith in humanity. Sometimes I just don't h...

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

Would it be too much tribute to refer to this as phamming a space?

Re: Downtown Restaurant News

I was walking by Tom Pham's Wondrous Shuttered Azian Kitchen today and thinking about how a restauranteer's loss can be a city's gain. Whatever you think about Mr. Pham or his restaurants, he drastically improved that space. His kitchen equipment can be repossessed, but the leasehold improvements he...

Re: Current & Proposed Downtown Minneapolis Projects

I wonder how much actual reporting The Business Journal does. A lot of their non-syndicated stories start "Finance and Commerce reports..." It seems like all their local reporting is done by one of only two guys, and more often than not they just rehash Strib/MPR/F&C stories with less ...

Re: Downtown Retail News

I would like to see an REI downtown. They are pushing a sustainable co-op image, yet all their Twin Cities stores are currently in car dominated suburbs. REI could even be an anchor for a renovated Block E (or Nieman's corner). They're big enough to take a corner spot on both the street and skyway l...

Re: Ceresota Building Aparements

Are they able to put more windows in this building? Or are they stuck with the few windows it already has due to the Ceresota's historic status?

Re: Transit News and Happenings

I think we can agree that it is/was members of the downtown business community being outright racist, not Metro Transit planners or Minneapolis City Councilmembers, right? I agree to a point. Certainly Metro Transit planners recognize the transit dependent Northsiders as a constituency they serve. ...

Re: Transit News and Happenings

Good points TCMetro. I guess when I suggestioned a 7th Street Transit Center I wasn't thinking of a bus station so much as a bus shelter built into that wall of City Center. I could be enclosed in glass, and long and narrow along that wall to give those waiting for a bus a place to stand or sit outs...

Re: Transit News and Happenings

Calling this racism is not out of line. It's not even hyperbole. It's what it is. I tend to see things breaking down along class lines rather than racial ones, but this situation is the exception. As has already been stated, this is the busiest bus stop in the system and there's not even a shelter h...
