If anything, this might give the current owners incentive to do a few upgrades to the theater. Here's hoping for new seats.According to KSTP a few days ago, the St. Anthony Main theater serves downtown residents just fine...

They talked about it briefly again on MPR. They seemed to make an inference that it was going to be a law firm, but who knows.

Re: 222 & Whole Foods - (222 Hennepin Avenue)
so does anyone have a project update? up to the third level yet? photos? it would be nice to see concrete construction rather than wood but hopefully it won't be too noticeable once complete... They're up to the third floor on most sides of the building. They've begun putting the ceiling in above t...

Re: Peavey Plaza reconstruction project
So wouldn't the solution be to give people access to restrooms instead of rebuilding a historic plaza at great expense with the hopes that people hold their pee and walk across the street to find a place of relief? Or fully fund mental institutions and homeless shelters, so that these people have s...

From afar they seem alright, but the street presence is pretty awful. Lots of blank walls on the street level of the towers, save for what faces Main St.You don't like the Pinnacle Towers? I kinda do!

Re: Loring Vue Apartments - (415 Oak Grove Street)
I agree with you here. It seems as though there are options for low-income, and higher-income people being built, but it is hard to find new apartments that someone making an average-income could afford.....
I want to see a new building I could afford to live in.

Indeed it does, on the second floor. Maybe they're adding a clinic, or does it already have one of those too?doesn't the downtown target already have a pharmacy?

Re: 700 Central Ave. NE (former Archive condos)
University Avenue, between Central and 35W, could use some loving. There are some good buildings there (like the General Mills Technical Center, Santana's, Dunn Bros and Alma, and Santiago apartments), but there are lots of ratty 60's built apartments, and several converted homes that have seen bett...

I did some digging, and this is the newest news (from late June) I could find on the project: Comm Dev & W&M/Budget – Your Committee, having under consideration receipt of 2012 Transportation-Oriented Development (TOD) grant awards, now recommends that the proper City officers be authorized ...

I wonder why that would be? Were the designs lackluster, or maybe some indecision from the committee?

Yes, lets get rid of a perfectly viable business that has been around for decades because it doesn't fit our cookie cutter vision of the future.

I don't believe this includes the portion of the block to be redeveloped w/ the design by Dayton. Personally - I think it's great that so many older buildings downtown are being rehabbed for reuse (old Shinder's on Hennepin, etc.). Personally - I've liked Village Green's buildings. Perhaps not alwa...

At this point I dare you to open a shop...good luck! That's what I was gonna say...I dunno how I'd feel about taking out a $500,000 loan to open any kind of retail on ground level at 4th and Nicollet, except maybe a McDonald's or something. I guess I find it amusing that the Mill District has special zoning because of its historic nature, when the overwhelming majority of it was bulldozed and asphalted back in the middle of the last century. I mean, I'm not calling for the Washburn-Crosby A mill to be razed (again), but it does seem si...

Does anyone know what the logic was behind having the bike lanes on the left side to begin with? I think it is a huge mistake not to move both bike lanes to the right side of the street.

Would be awesome if someone would reclaim that space. New theater downtown, and Barfly gone? Sounds like a win-win to me.The original Skyway theater was perfect. Saw Alien there...oh well.
