Re: Soccer Stadium and Snelling-Midway Development
My brain must not be working. I'm reading in the local papers about opponents of the site redevelopment complaining about the $18m price tag, but to me it sounds like quite the deal. Recall that St Paul/Met Council wanted to redevelop the site, but dropped those plans last year because of the infras...

It looks to me like work has started on the World of Beers in the Straus Lofts building.

Re: Rochester
For the top project, why would they tear down a fully developed block of buildings when there are several nearly complete blocks of surface parking just to the north? The block to the north is owned by Mayo Clinic as is the block to the northeast (has the old Vine Funeral home). Mayo also owns at l...

Re: Western U Plaza - (300 University/Old Home Dairy)
I hope so. I like how some of the windows are centered, and other are not.I almost think that the curtain wall order for those openings was delayed, so this is a temporary solution for the winter months.

I was actually kind of hopeful, because on the side of the building they were replacing windows like this:

Sorry for the quality of the photos.

I'd be interested in reading the other comments in that stream. I searched for it, but failed. Could post a link the Facebook page?

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
This sucks: "The Glockenspiel bar and restaurant on West Seventh Street announced on its Facebook page Sunday night that their lease will not be renewed and they are closing immediately. Sunday was their last full day of business, but they open one last time from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. Wednesday.&qu...

Re: Former Macy's Site - Downtown St. Paul
While a damn sight better than the current Macy's building, I don't think the proposed design has a "wow" factor. I'm not sure what it needs, but it's kind of boring. I think the blue glass gives it a more "corporate" look rather than an "entertainment" look.

Earlier post on World of Beer:
I'm curious, has World of Beer opened as planned? If not, has there been any construction activity? They plan to open in October, according to the person in their booth at the Blues Festival yesterday. She said they'd have 52 taps and 500 bottles.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
Stopped by the Dark Horse Bar and Eatery yesterday. Nice place with a good selection of beers. The bar tender told me that they are opening a distillery (whiskey?) in the adjoining building.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
That's the Straus Lofts building, isn't it? I'm pretty sure that's where World of Beer is going, or at least in a portion of the ground floor space.Here. https://goo.gl/maps/yLnLW65Jmux
I don't remember anything ever being here either.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
Now I'm definitely intrigued. The only spot on Mears Park that I can think of that fits that criteria is the Straus Lofts spot being taken by World of Beer. It's going into a space that in my 16 years here in the Twin Cities I don't ever remember being occupied.

Re: St. Paul Restaurant News
The building with the ground floor parking is one block west on W. 7th Street. Dark Horse is going into the old Twin Cities Magic & Costume location (actually just one of the buildings that housed TCMC).

Re: Seven Corners Gateway Site
The original Opus proposal for this site was pretty bad. Does selecting Radisson Red as the hotel component improve the odds of getting a better site design?
