Re: Dinky "tower" - McDonalds redevelopment

Good points on density and history of the GrandMarc building - I had no idea it was proposed as taller. Also disappointing to hear. Enclosed courtyards can be done well. I think they fly in Texas and the South because you have pools open year round and landscaping that generally stays green, for som...

Re: Hennepin Avenue Reconstruction (Douglas to Lake St)

was reading this biz article about this project and at the end it randomly has a quote from a city project manager saying the lake to 36th street design "has not worked well". Then is says the city plans to return parking to the heart of uptown this spring. Anyone know anything about this...

240 Park close to being completed. Urban canyon on Washington coming together - need Sherman's project the block over to get off the ground! https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50990455618_ff604db185_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50991267777_72756c9819_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com...

East Town Apartments completed. Decent frontage along 9th Ave with walk-up units; pretty horrible frontage on 7th Street with no doors and frosted glass. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50991124871_613fd21a89_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/50991237372_7cd920fcd9_b.jpg https://live.sta...

Per MSPBJ - Hines buys one of the best remaining lots in downtown Minneapolis; floats office project I think they have been softly marketing this for years, but a good sign that they finally closed on the parcel. Business Journal reports that Hines could do 600-700k square feet and is targeting prof...

Initially, there were talks about including a replacement theater in the new development. Brown was intrigued, but says that plan faced substantial hurdles in financing and organization.

Re: Theater Garage Marquee Apartments - (Franklin & Lyndale)

3+ years later and this finally looks like it's wrapped up. In tandem with its completion northbound Lyndale gained a left turn lane and parking was removed from the west side. If that 6,200 sf corner retail space wasn't going to be hard enough to lease, I think the loss of parking there is going to...

Well underway. Haven't noticed any marketing for completion date, but I would suspect summer 2020. Tons of white Tyvek in Uptown and Lyn-Lake right now, will be interesting to see how these things lease up. https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/49751039458_11fde4192b_b.jpg https://live.staticflickr.co...

Re: Street, Road and Highway Projects

Bender said lowering speed limits would also help guide future street renovations, such as lane widths and the timing of stop lights. This statement by Bender packs a huge punch... If this helps usher in 10' lanes and quicker signal cycles, this is much bigger and more impactful than just speeds. A...

I wonder if the horizontal bands/vertical columns are actually stone/tile or just stamped concrete - would hope the former. The building is clad in a stone called Alabama silver shadow. A natural limestone. One of my favorites, actually. It will have natural marble line veining when clean and dry. ...

I like the white metal paneling this and Nordhaus use. Not cheesy neon colors and such a nice break from Mortenson fiber cement panels.
