Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

One reason for the six-foot width is the city is committing to clearing all these new sidewalks of snow in winter. As a city-cleared sidewalk it needs to fit a five-foot wide clearing machine, the six feet gives forgiving inches for swerving that doesn't gouge grass or send the machine tipping into ...

Knollwood Mall - St. Louis Park

I hadn't heard until reading this story, but seems Smashburger and Noodles are going in. Sure, they're chains but folks love them. http://sailor.mnsun.com/2014/04/30/knollwood-mall-transformation-in-the-works-in-st-louis-park/ Still wish there was a way to vacate Aquila and run Blake through to 36th...

Pedestrian Safety and Infrastructure Improvements

Building out sidewalks is a big deal in some parts of Saint Louis Park as the city begins filling in sidewalk gaps. Some residents are pretty damn angry. http://sailor.mnsun.com/2014/04/29/st-louis-park-will-install-controversial-sidewalks-this-summer/ I was at this meeting that happened a few weeks...

Walls (probably doorless) of glassy office space along Lagoon would not be an improvement.

Re: Manhattanization

Seems fishy. Just visually, looking over downtown Minneapolis vs, Miami in Flyover mode it doesn't jive. Must be counting some pretty stubby buildings as skyscrapers outside the downtowns, like the low income towers outside downtown, or a few of the buildings northwest of Lake Calhoun.

I'd be pleased with Vancouverization. So many Minneapolitans literally afraid of all shadows.

Re: Green Line (Central Corridor LRT)

Isn't it the case pretty much that the zig goes towards the direction of the station? I can see why they would have chosen that, though I'd have rather they chose to center the crossing instead.

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)

Speaking of forecasting methodologies: I hope the next transit project budget forecast has properly accounted for "inevitable delay-making process tactics" when they reach a number.

I was just checking Minnetonka's page just last week trying to find an update on the HCMC proposal at Excelsior and Shady Oak. Very useful.

Being near the Southdale Transit Center helps. Improvements to the walkability around the Southdale district is useful. Prepare for pearl clutching outrage from Edinans who live nowhere near this.

Re: West Calhoun Apartments - (3118 Lake Street W)

I'm glad for them they got a six-story-wall that blocks sunsets for all of them instead of the 11-story that would leave sunsets for half. They deserve it. You can drag a horse to water but you can't make him drink.

2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited, which just replaced a 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport that nearly fell apart while driving after putting 250,000 miles on it. Donated to Newgate and only got a few hundred dollars. Heh. Having a 4WD vehicle got us to work and school in many snowy winter days. 2008 Hundai Sonat...

Rehab Addict certainly could have run a Kickstarter campaign, pushed it on her show, to get the balance of funds to buy it and move it. Only if the point was to save it though I guess.

Re: Woodbury Corporate Campus - State Farm site

I guess a reason to care is that the Gateway line is headed this direction. Maybe this sort of development cast doubt to the wisdom extending Gateway past 694/494. Tough to control every and all development in every suburb. But at least when major infrastructure is going somewhere it is reasonable t...
