Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
Minneapolis doesn't seem to want dramatic, or something that stands out. Most everything built downtown in the last 15 years could easily have been built in the suburbs. For nine years I worked in the area where all of this is about to take place, and I love that these horrible surface lots are goin...

Re: Downtown East Project (Ryan Companies / Wells Fargo)
For nine years I worked in the area where all of this is about to take place, and I love that these horrible surface lots are going to be filled in with new buildings, a park, and more eyes on the street in new residents and employees in the area. My only complaint is that we have two mirror image b...

Re: Southwest Corridor (Green Line Extension)
I'm all for scrapping this whole SW LRT line completely until we have a better route that benefits more people. If I'm not mistaken, wasn't one of the original proposed routes designed to send the LRT south along Nicollet to the lake street area, and then west on the midtown greenway, eventually mee...

Re: Capella Tower & LaSalle Plaza
A renovation and "upgrade" of finishes to the 1st & 2nd floor of Capella Tower is underway. It's a $7 million project which will re-locate escalators and stairs. Perkins+Will is the architect. I wonder how one "upgrades" the already top-notch finishes? http://www.bizjournals...

Re: IDS Center
Off topic I suppose with this question, but why do we not have any buildings downtown lit up in traditional Christmas colors of red and green ? I remember when US Bank on Nicollet was finished it had red and green lights at the top around Christmas and then never again that I've ever seen. Do we hav...

Re: Downtown Retail News
To go off of what shaqwn is talking about and reminisce about what downtown Minneapolis meant to my family many years ago. I remember when I was young my family would all get in the car and drive downtown for some Christmas shopping. We would walk around Nicollet Avenue, Gaviidae Common, and Crysta...

Re: Northeast - General Topics
Why would Surdyk's, and the photography shop need to be redeveloped ? Surdyk's has been there a long time and is very popular. It seems like a redevelopment of Surdyk's and that photography shop could go a long way towards making the near NE node more cohesive.

I'm starting to see this from almost every angle when I look at downtown. Makes me wish it would go higher.

Re: Mayoral Race
1. Cam Winton
2. Stephanie Woodruff
3. Bob Fine. Kind of a throwaway vote really.
At least we won't have Block E Cherryhomes as our mayor.

Re: LPM Apartments - (1368 LaSalle Avenue)
Hello All, This is my first ever post on urbanmsp and I'm very happy to have this forum I learn so much from. This year I have had the pleasure of meeting some of you at the last two happy hour events. That said, I have to add that I have seen MKE grow and embrace it's blue collar history and vibe o...
