Re: Fantasy maps
To concentrate on areas I'm most familiar with, I would consolidate your brown line in St. Anthony a bit. There isn't really room for a station at 33rd. I would condense your stations at 33rd and 37th (you have as County 93) into a Central Park station, and have the station based at the parking lot ...

Re: Expo 2023
Rosemount would be an absolutely terrible location. Arden Hills isn't great, but it's at least sort of close to something.

Re: Minneapolis Skyway System
And if I read the 4marq plans they submitted to the city correctly, they are eventually planning on a skyway, so that will ultimately tie in as well. I know some people don't love it, but I'm personally of the opinion that as long as we have it, we might as well make it as cohesive and efficient as ...

Re: Fantasy maps
Could be something either connecting the Blue line eastward - either to the purple line, or maybe up to New Brighton/Arden Hills/Shoreview. Lowry as the corridor, perhaps? NE (Upper NE anyway) and N are the most underserved by the map as of now.

Re: UrbanMSP-esque sites in other cities
I figure it's been a year, maybe worth reviving this to see if people have run into any others. Personally, I've been looking for Pittsburgh, as it's possible I might make a move there and I've been trying to get a feel for it. Their SSP and SSC threads are pretty dead (though there is a certain sur...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
"Most of the new stations were funded by the National Park Service and are required to be within 1/4 mile of the MNRRA and north of St. Anthony Falls. Those will all be in downtown, the North Loop, and Northeast Minneapolis with a couple near the U of M." So it sounds like we'll be gettin...

Re: Video Games
That zoning thing really is a problem. I can't upzone an area without tearing everything on it down? How does that make sense? I must admit I'm a little disappointed in the game. I'm one of those people who still plays Simcity 4 regularly, so in theory I ought to be the perfect man for this game, b...

Re: Nice Ride Minnesota
Any idea if Nice Ride will be able to expand this year? As discussed above, they ran into issues that prevented them from expanding as they had hoped to due to supplier issues. I wonder if that's been resolved. I'm really hoping the 36th and Lyndale station gets replaced with a return of the 36th a...

Re: Video Games
I enjoyed CiM, but it is impossible for the game to not be horrifyingly laggy. This includes my laptop that I got last week. And I'm talking about CiM 1, which came out 4 years ago.

Re: MSP Airport
I don't think there was ever an update on this one. U.S. airline Delta has canceled plans for scheduled flights between Keflavík International Airport and Minneapolis next summer as the company was unable to obtain service slots at the airport. In summer 2014, Delta offered daily flights between Ic...

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?
O'Shaughnessy at St. Thomas could certainly be used for something like Field Hockey. I don't know if any of the other private schools in the area have something with enough seating. You're right that Williams could be problematic for some events, but for things like, say, weightlifting or judo that ...

Re: 2024 Olympic Bid?
I would assume they would somehow renovate the U's Aquatics Center with temporary seating. Putting a rowing facility on the Mississippi near campus also seems the most likely outcome, since it could be used by the university subsequently. The velodrome is honestly the only really tricky one in my mi...

I mean, in fairness to a hypothetical bid, we would have really limited venue construction needs at this point.

Re: MSP Airport
Apparently Delta has applied for Summer flights to Reykjavik. Not sure if the market can really withstand two airlines flying to Iceland, and Icelandair has better connectivity, so we'll see what's going on with that.

I think these signage improvements look good, but I think we should just skip the Tier 1 altogether and go with Tier 2 at all stand-alone stops.

Ah, Ok - this is what happens when i comment when I'm geographically no longer in the area full time.I believe that narrow bypass is at the moment being rebuilt. That is the reason for the detour this summer on Central. They are replacing that train bridge over Central.

Re: Nicollet-Central Streetcar
Oh man. This is so cool. Can I ask if there is any sort of timeline for this? Is there hope it could be incorporated into the Mall redo? I see they're often referencing that design. I've always wondered if the intersection of Hennepin/Nicollet/Washington, and then going down Hennepin to the 2nd and...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
How is busing possibly an efficient way of getting to cabins? They aren't exactly centralized. The idea that some people would sit on a bus for an hour and a half while a driver goes to three lakes before theirs is ridiculous.
