Re: 800 Washington Av S (Guthrie ramp liner) - AECOM / City of Lakes Community Land Trust
It's going to be sad when the great views from the Guthrie's amber box on the 9th floor get blocked looking south by this thing - definitely not going to win any awards for aesthetics, but I guess it's good for progress. Still going to be a bummer though.

Re: Bloomington - General Topics
People are speculating it's Tesla due to the design of the building and them being the biggest name in electric cars, but an expensive new construction building in highly visible real estate doesn't fit their current pattern of dumpy existing buildings. That's definitely a future Tesla dealership! ...

Councilmember Kline of Robbinsdale a blue line extension NIMBY is facing DWI & fleeing charges from a Monday incident. Hopefully he gets the boot and is replaced by a more extension friendly councilmember. Fingers crossed!

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
I attended one of the recent open houses and had a long conversation with Nick Landwer the head engineer for Metro Transit on this project. It sounds like consensus is leaning towards Broadway, which I think is good news. From an engineering perspective it would be easier to go over to and up Lyndal...

I somehow missed that the University was constructing an addition to Institute of Child Development, Carmen D. and James R. Campbell Hall. Vertical construction is starting to alter the skyline of the Knoll Area. It caught my eye on Saturday to see a new building going up. https://news.cehd.umn.edu/...

I hope they light more of the tower, just the very top is kind of weird to me. The Carlyle is lit much nicer.Lights are turned on. The top has a really nice soft warm glow to it. I kind of like it since it's not trying to draw attention away from the core night skyline. Take a look tonight!

By sheer coincidence, the Twins are replacing their scoreboard before the 2023 season. I'm gonna guess there's a 99% chance it significantly if not completely obstructs the view of the field from the new building. Here's a rendering of the rooftop view looking towards Target Field, they make it loo...

As far as those projects. https://www.dot.state.mn.us/d3/projects/h10elkriver/ Is about fixing badly deteriorated pavement, not "Freeway Expansion Preparation" https://www.dot.state.mn.us/d3/hwy10er/ Was a study that Elk River paid for that MnDOT seems to have no interest and no money in ...

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Maintaining existing highways doesn't sabotage motorists. Only neglecting them or reducing their capacity would do that.So the only way to make Northstar work is to sabotage things for motorists? If so it's fair to question it's merits.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
Zimmerman is a growing exurb with metro commuters living there. They will probably get a full interchange at County Rd 4 & 169 very soon, it's already trying to get bonding money. Those Hwy 10 and 169 improvements are probably catered to the cabin traffic.

Re: Northstar Commuter Rail
It seems like MnDot is kind of sabotaging Northstar. We spent $330 Million on it to alleviate traffic, but MnDot keeps expanding the Highway 10 corridor to take away the transit advantage... $138.2 Million committed in past & current projects, $410 Million committed in planned projects, and $357...

This video could almost be a summary of Northstar. It's also a good summary of why LEED ratings don't mean that much.

Re: Blue Line Extension - Bottineau LRT
Nick Landwer pretty much threw out the elevated option, because it doesn't add any space for cars or bikes. Faster service speed wasn't even mentioned with that option.
